The trouble is egg, if we encourage people and forgive their spelling and grammar mistakes we run the risk in the long run of losing our beautiful English language and see it evolve into a jumbled mess of letters that make no sense whatsoever. The fight must continue for us purists who strive each day to preserve the language we hold so dear to ourselves. War must be waged against text language, trendy abbreviations and the annoying and ever puzzling use of a space before a full stop or comma.
In all seriousness I am trying to teach my 10 year old son how to spell and use proper grammar but Im failing miserably. I honestly am worried about how our language will look in 50 years time. It will be absolutely mutilated to pieces.
Fair Call , I do understand your sentiment , it is true
For me a bug bear is when people write Goal ,, FFS in Australia it's Jail.
I am the same with Aussie slang - love the ol ' phases , for example Hoo Roo for saying goodbye
That worries me more than perfection of the gramma or language .
For me , maintaining Australiana is MORE important , than the queens English .
Isn't , " Hey cobber , lob roun' my joint for a barbi this arvo " more in the spirit of the ANZAC ?
