i dont see how though, this is the team benny had last year

seibold is just trash

Wayne is a really different coach to everyone else in the league, he knows what works for him and he builds that. Soon as he moves on from that team there is a pretty big time period where they're just plain trash.

Not saying the new coach inherits a bad team, just a totally different style that takes a while to replumb

Sounds like if GI can't play on he can't be medically retired unless Rabbits can prove a new injury.
Might end up chewing up a lot of their caps space ($1.5 million) over rest of this season and next season.

That's pretty **** if true. I don't particularly like Souths or GI but if a player cant play due any injury and has to retire, the club should not be penalised under the cap.

What if a club signs an injury plagued top player, like GI, to a long term contract, back ending it, knowing full well he won't see it out? So in effect they'd be getting a player cheap for a few years with the bulk of the contract not coming under the cap 'when' they retire early.

Not saying that's what has happened here, but I think the rule is there for a reason.

He'd still be AUS captain if it wasn't for the DUI.

So there could have been a situation of the Kangaroo captain retiring after being named, but before captaining a game.

Well the player would have to agree to it knowing their body so they are knowingly signing to less money - basically they are agreeing to bet you they can play out the contract and you're (the club) betting against that.
As a player I wouldn't be very open to that myself.

I also think the NRL has said they will not allow heavily back ended contracts anymore... possibly I'm making that up though, I can't remember for sure.

God I'd love this to be a low scoring game and Smith goes another week without the record
