Frizell or Lewis is fair but the other two comparisons should have been Peachey or Heighington? Robson or Townsend?
In those two comparisons I know who I would choose.

Yeah I was going to say the same thing, that's a better comparison. You could also say Peach/tupou and Frizell/hino, just depends which way you choose to look at the situation.

Yeah I know, just adding to the discussion, it just highlights Flanno would prefer the squad to all be in the veteran category.

Flanno wants a team that will perform right now...lets think about this..the sharks have been **** for a few years when Ricky was the coach and we had no money. Also lets face it...what happens when a team doesn't perform....the coach gets the sack. SO he has built a team of reliable players that will be consistent.

There lies another argument though... Does that mean he's not a very good coach if he needs veteran players that don't really need much coaching as he's not capable of improving the younger guys that have played first grade- Gards, Chad, Mills, Bukuya, Matt Wright, they've all stagnated somewhat since coming into first grade with a fair bit of hype or were none of them ever really first grade standard ?

Bukuya has done well in first grade. Matt wright is still young. I think of him as JMO journey man type of player. solid but struggles to find a position to call his own. I think he may develop into a 2nd rower. CHad will be a solid half in a couple years, but not spectacular ( what do you pay him in the mean time)....mills im not sure about, I think he may do well, but I do think he needs a change of club.

Look at wayn bennet and who he signs? experienced players he knows can do a job.

Yeah I see your point, dunno if I agree with just having a squad of veterans though.

Feki and Leutele have improved since coming into first grade
They've played about a dozen first grade games combined, hardly shows that Flanno is some genius coach. I know that sounds negative but I don't think Flanno is capable of leading us to a premiership, happy for him to prove me wrong.

regardless, if the current recruitment attitude continues into the future, we will always have proven players doing a job for a team... tbh, as long as the team is winning and genuine contenders come september, i couldnt care less where they played their junior footy.

Our recruitment was just luck to a degree the last few years, it's not going to continue like that you wouldn't think.

cue the hate and the calls of narrow-minded thinking .. but flanno said when he signed todd he wanted to get more representative players to the club, and thats exactly what he's done. if a man can have rep players wanting to play for a club with questionable facilities, then he , as a coach, is doing something right.

We play a simplistic forward driven gameplan. Success wont comr until we find a first grade coach.
