It was tongue in cheek Westy. I thought that was clear.

If it were ever brought in (it won’t be), well there’s an obvious way to avoid all that. Don’t suck so hard that you get relegated. Although I know this will never be implemented, part of me is warming to the idea of proper actual consequences to being **** enough to finish dead last apart from a mythical kitchen utensil.

At no point in your post did you make it “clear” it was tongue and cheek.. ?

Surely a club like Brisbane can’t be double spooned.
yea doubt we see that - Que the NRL will never allow that to happen conspiracies

being humiliated on the ladder, being the butt of every fans jokes and struggling to attract players and sponsors isn't enough for finishing dead last?

ok so the broncs prob arn't that effected on the sponsorship side but alot of weaker clubs would be

the big problem with the regulation system is how is the promoted team (essential a reggies squad) going to do much better the following season than the team that previously finished 16th - they will just be swapping comps for 12 months. then there is the fans, merch, corporate, logistical and financial side of it

just doesn't seem that suitable for what the NRL comp is

Being humiliated on the ladder? They get paid either way I doubt they care about the humiliation side of it from their fellow players.
Fan banter? LOL they couldn’t give a rats arse what fans think, especially rival ones.
Struggling to attract players? Somewhat fair, but there are a more factors in play about whether or not a club can attract a player other then finishing last. Also in Brisbane’s case, they definitely won’t have any issues.
Sponsors? Similar to attracting players. More factors in play. We won a premiership yet we’ve struggled for years to get a consistent major sponsor around the year we won the comp.
As for your last point: Not necessarily. Don’t forget that the cap would be lower in the division down so they’ll have cash to pick up a couple of decent players. Also the team will be stocked with guys who have a winning culture and will be hungry to take their opportunity in the top grade.

I know prom/relegation is unrealistic in this league and will never be implemented and I know, accept and even agree with that. But there is a little part of me that thinks, “you know what? What if?”

It all doesn’t matter though because it will never happen.

KIA wouldn't be paying $1m to be FOJ of Broncos in QCup. To suggest it wouldn't hurt sponsorship is ludicrous. Sponsors already have clauses for top 8, 4, prem etc. With prom/rel they'd certainly have clauses to adjust or even cease their investment upon relegation.

Sorry Crazy, not picking on ya.....
A team would struggle to attract good players after relegation. Infact they probably lose their top players as they defect in order to play in the top comp.

LOL I didn’t think you were Westy.

That’s one of the drawbacks/punishments of being relegated isn’t it? Just like any sport that has promotion/relegation. Easy way to avoid it is don’t get relegated.

Again I want to reiterate, I know that this won’t ever happen and to be honest it probably shouldn’t. But i can’t help but wonder what’d it be like.

I’d rather a national second division if it’s going to promo/releg. But again, none of this is going to happen, I’m just wondering what’d it be like.

Of course its never gonna happen we're just shooting the ****. A national 2nd div that was well supported would be essential. Australia doesn't have the population & interest to support it.
