OK, the Sharks have copped a fair bit from the media over various issues that go back but who are the League journo's that you think writes a balanced, unbiased opinion without trying to crawl to anyone ?
Personally i enjoy reading books written by Ian Heads & also what Peter Fitzsimmons, Roy Masters & Phil Gould have to say in his SMH column & i also think Paul Kent writes some good stuff as well & to a lesser extent Dean Ritchie & Josh Massoud who wrote The Penalty which dealt about the Ryan Tandy betting scandal.
I often question Phil Rothfield & most of those other News LTD journo's because of the bias they write for the pro Super League clubs but it's funny because even though the Sharks were aligned with SL i still say they get a rough deal from the journo's who always seem to criticise them even when they are winning.
If the Sharks get the two points tonight then i think there should be some positive press forthcoming but how long it will last is anyones guess.

Well, this is an interesting thread. Usually we just bag the journos.

All of them seem to have their ups and downs. More downs than ups for a lot of them, particularly the News Ltd ones. SMH is pretty tabloid these days as well though.

This is actually a really tough question and I can't really answer it off the top of my head.

Gould writes some really good articles, but then he also has his fair share of know-it-all and unrealistic pieces as well. Roy Masters can be good too, but some of his stuff is trash. Steve Mascord has some good stuff.

I wouldn't single anyone out as a must read though.

Roy Masters for quality journalism.

Gould is good too (on paper) but I am so over his State of Origin pre match commentary on TV.

The rest? Meh...

Still on the crayons is Freddie has failed his pen licence twice now let's hope it's third time lucky.

I imagine Freddy's spellchecker would cause the computer to shut down due to overload.

You can just imagine the editor rolling his eyes when Freddy hands his work in.

"Sigh, um Freddy, Fittler has two T's......not one".

I like Gould - he talks sense most of the time and has the game's best interests at heart. Just talks about the game without sensationalising or going too far into flavor of the month league scandalls ect. Plus he has been a public bandwagon Sharks fans for a few years now ha ha

Works for the panthers which is one of the few teams I have nothing against

Roy Masters and Steve Mascord have their good moments too

+ any journo that doesn't use social media as a primary source

Ive got fair respect for steve mascord as well. I frequent reddit a bit and he always shares his articles there. Usually is up for a discussion if someone disagrees with him and never does so in the condescending way that guys like paul kent do when someone has a differing opinion.

Vale Rebecca Wilson
The NRL has paid tribute to journalist and broadcaster Rebecca Wilson, who passed away on Friday morning aged 54.

Wilson was a columnist with The Daily Telegraph and The Sunday Telegraph, and had a long history in Rugby League.

"Rebecca was fearless, not only in her opinion but in her unflinching quest to seek out the truth," NRL CEO Todd Greenberg said.

"While we didn't always agree, nobody could ever doubt her passion both for sport and for journalism.

"The fact that she fought an illness in private while still so strongly fighting for what she felt was right was both admirable and courageous.

"She was a pioneer in many respects for women in the game, women in sports and women in sports journalism."

I haven't read anything by Mascord in years. Last time I did he seemed really jaded and burnt out by the game and not in a good head space at all. Might have been aroundbthe ASADA time.

Is he back in good form now?
