Wow. Must of written the article after reading this forum!

"No player enters 2025 under more pressure for his NRL spot or future contract than Cronulla Sharks fullback William Kennedy."

The article also claims Ison is basically the next Billy Slater!
Definitely under a lot of pressure but it's a big call to say the most under pressure player in the game.

"The former Penrith Panthers product could well be the most talented number one anywhere in the competition since a player by the name of Billy Slater made the spot his own for the Melbourne Storm, Queensland Maroons and Australian national team."

Quality journalism haha. Ison is a good prospect but to suggest he's the most talented fullback since Slater is a huge stretch.

More correct if it read - Ison is basically the next Billy Slater! Nathan Gardner .

Jesus haha, unless article is by a parent that is way over the top!

I'm seeing a lot of places predicted best 17s for the year running him at 1.
TBH I think Kennedy holds it this year unless he ends up out for a spell with an injury or something.

Ison is very raw and only just turned 20, Cup is still a good spot for him to keep developing and get used to playing against big bodies.
Kennedy is one of the worst starting fullbacks in the nrl but that doesn't make him as bad as some people act, he's just not as good as we'd prefer.

Unless dykes or ison grow another leg then Will is going to be our fullback all year. And that's good by me.
I do think he’s got a big head start
I’d be plenty worried if I was him and got an injury or suspension that gave someone more than a weeks opportunity though

He’s got a lot on the line and hopefully we see the best out of him
And at least one other rises to the occasion as a challenger too

If the plan is to replace Kennedy with Ison for 2026, id like to see Ison get some more gametime this season rather than being thrust into the custodian role with heaps of pressure at the start of next season

I don't think there's a set plan with this at all. For mine, nobody is close to being ready round 1, or soon after, barring injury.

Ison can fill in if there is an injury, but he aint ready for the tough stuff, whereas Dykes is ready in that way, but he's got a serious injury to come back from.
