I always liked Nathan Longs courage ,but Steve Kneen and Kurt Sorenson for pure aggro and dirty **** in the tackle.

Didn't we have a defensive set last season or the season before which was almost as good? I recall a cracker against the Storm at some point where Boogs had a bs penalty called against him for offside or a strip which ruined it though
I remember us all comparing it to 2011 at the time

Brisbane. And it resulted in a penalty for a shoulder charge on boogs that he sat a week out

Thanks heaps for posting that clip, I'll never forget that game.

I suppose could Gus say it was the beginning of a five year plan?

How great was Val smashing JT in the prelim.

In saying that, the last few seasons Lewy loves a good sneaky smash. And a tackle.

Speechley and it may surprise some, but Sludge was an awesome defender.

Doesn't belong in the conversation of best defender but Kimmorley I'll always remember for his strong kick chases.

Players would think they were in the clear and then his orangutan arms would unfurl like a lasso and drag them back.

I'll go Jeremy Smith. He turned our forward pack around defensively when we picked him up.

A very underrated part of his game. The guy was like a terrier chasing after a ball, always first there.

He certainly did have a rough head. Him and Bundy Davidson were tough as. I was a big fan of Jeremy Smith though, shattered when he left.

Absolute tackling machine ( not unusual to click up 50/game )

With an honourable mention to Steve Kneen
They can't run without heads
