Time to move on from Carney and we have plenty of cash to do it. Here is what we should do. As we will have trouble attracting stars we will need to be clever with our recruitment. Probably time to start a complete rebuild of our aging squad. I would be searching far and wide for young talent. There are not really any good halves on the market for next year, but 2016 has a few so I would probably go for two young halves and take the hit. Brown will be one, but we will probably have Robson next year, unless we can lure Luke Walsh back from SL. Here are the players I would go for next year:
Josh Maguire, Dale Copley, Matt Duffie, John Folau, Eto Nabuli, Bodene Thompson and then look for some talented young kids.
I would really be looking closely at the QLD cup for a half. There is bound to be a hidden gem in there somewhere. If we want to break that premiership drought, we need to stop with the desperate signings. We should never have been even looking at Benji, it reeked of desperation. Penrith have shown the way with their rebuild. Clever recruiting to supplement talented juniors. Of course we can't compete with their junior base, but we can be clever. We need to expect to miss the finals for a few years with a young talented squad and build something special. Gallen will not win a premiership with this squad, but he can help a talented young squad become better, quicker. Thoughts?
Oh.. and Wade Graham is average at best. Not sure what the club sees in him.
