Townsend should be halfback but use Kelly as a bench hooker/half

we have tried using a small half as a bench hooker a few years back. it did not work with preston cambell & i do not think it will work with kelly either. for me trial form will decide wether kelly or townsend gets first chance to play with carney. at this stage i think kelly would be the favourite as he & carney are potentially the most dangerous.

Quality post Wrighty. Agree 100%. Except I think we are particularly suited to the 4-4-4 system... especially if we had some decent backs. Carney can play both sides too though if we went with Chad.

By the way... what does 4-4-4 remind you of? RL is becoming more and more structured.

The thing I'm most worried about is how Graham would fit in if it were a Kelly/Carney halves pairing.

Personally I like the fact that Rugby League is becoming more structured. It will benefit the likes of Carney, Kelly & Gards on our team.

after these compelling arguments and watching some footage of the games chad played vs alberts games...I change my mind to Kelly being with Carney in the halves.

I think a year in NSW will give him a great chance to work on his consistency, I still think he will be a solid half back in years to come.

Kelly 6. Carney 7. Why does everyone think graham is going to walk in and start in the backrow i'd have him on the bench to start the season

Some one here already said it... U put ur best players on the field... Graham was arguably our 2nd best player last year behind gallen..

As far as Townsend Argument.... Out of all the potential halves we have he is the only one who would benefit from another year in nsw cup...he should be a future star but I doubt just yet..

I chose Kelly but now not too sure. It's good to have options though for once :)

I picked Wade Graham, as he was our best performer in the backline all year, he kept himself out of trouble all year, and deserves the first shot. Plus he threw a couple of really nice passes towards the end of the season that gave me confidence he was growing into the halves role. If AK is good enough he can push Graham to lock later in the season.

Nice to have a few good options for a change.

For mine, I think Flano will start with Robson at half. But I think Carney and Kelly would be a more dangerous partnership longer term.

totally agree, also having a player like carney to train with should improve his kicking game

This place doesn't change.

It's definitely has to be Carney and Kelly. Townsend still has some serious flaws in his game that need fixing before he's truly considered and Robson's a massive shunt.

Stick that organising rubbish fair up ya clacka because thats all a load of rubbish. Carney's game will not change if he's in the 6 or the 7. Him and Kelly are above and beyond our two best attacking weapons and we'd be silly not to have them in the halves.

JMo copping some serious unnecessary flack too. He needs to be the hooker.

exactly his game will not change so we need someone to steer the forwards around. Or would you like gal to keep playing like a halfback?

X2 - Heard that the rumour of Kelly leaving was from his mouth on a golf day somewhere - believe it or not. Hope its not true and I hope the decision is not up to him to be honest. Kelly/Carney would be one of the best half combo's in the league - alot of points.

ive gotta say kelly still has a lot to prove before he can start throwing threats of leaving around. Id love to see him stay but with an attitude like that we can now do without him IMO. Especially if it freed up some funds for 2013

he's not going anywhere, we can afford him under the cap and no other club can afford to pay out a 3 year contract... either he plays for us or no-one at all, lets move on from this one it's b/s
