I liked the way John Morris went about his business as a player.

No lair, may have done with a bit more flair, but a 24 carat team player. If he brings those attributes to coaching he will succeed.

Brent Read’s reporting that Adam O’Brian is not interested in the Sharks job. Loving his role at the Chooks.

Make of that what you will.

Schoolteacher yeah? Storm System? Well regarded, but I reckon foxing, if he'd knock back Top Dog Role.

Like I posted before. We are. But it’s just an interim thing, this is for the next permanent coach.

I think Flanno is just "suspended" with a "Show cause" notice at the moment until 31/01/19 at which time he either fights it or becomes de-registered.
That's how I read it anyway after hearing Gal and Russell's presser.
Russell is giving Flanno every chance to fight it before any "official" appointment, So I guess it's "interim" until 31/01/19 and then we confirm them for the season???

I just hope the players can band together and get behind the new coaches. On paper we have a great squad, my worst fear though is that a team of 2017 james Maloney run out to play each week

Mate I know you love VB but that doesn't mean everything in your life needs to be average.

mmmmmmmmm VB

I wouldn't call Steve price average, lot more experience than many on this poll -
Lower grades coach Dragons.
Assistant coach Bennett Dragon premiership 2010.
Head coach Dragons.
Assistant coach 3 years to Flanno Sharks premiership 2016.
Head coach warrinton wolves runners up super league GF 2018

Let's be honest, we're not going to spend big on a new coach. We'll try to promote within like we did with Flanno when Stuart left.

Morris makes the most sense depending on how the players receive him and how he goes over the period till the appeals period is over.

I don't like Dymock as HC, I've met him a few times before and he just comes across slow as ****. I'm sure he's not, and he's made a good career out of being an assistant coach but sometimes you're just not cut out to be a HC. This is Dymock imo.

Whether good or bad Morris knows the club, knows the players etc. Depends if they want to really start fresh or not. I'm mindful that we have a very good squad, and things are looking good for the next few years as a premiership threat. I'm hesitant to rock the boat too much.

The concern for me with Morris is the fade-out in 2017 NYC. Also that he may just be a lesser clone of Flano, and that some players seem to need a freshen up.

I think we could realistically get an up and coming coach on low pay. If you look at some of the assistants that really want to become a first grade coach, or even ESL ones, they would look at our squad and think what an opportunity.

Why are any of the so called up and coming coached better than Morris ? Why is O'brien meant to be better ? I legitimately ask this question. Is everyone just reading what other people are saying ?

Morris knows all our juniors, seemed to be big on getting them ready for first grade. Knows our systems. Played 300 games himself. Masters in coaching, qualified PE teacher etc etc. Seems like a good guy, though that doesn't really matter.

Yes a fresh start might be good, but with the squad we have I'm reluctant to hit a reset button so to speak.

Also look at what Seibold did at Souths after taking over from McGuire. He was assistant coach and he really changed the way Souths played. No reason Morris won't "freshen" up the place.

I know i sound like a huge fanboi for Morris but just think it makes most sense to give him the gig this year and every opportunity going forward. Give him till Rd 10 or something. Performance based for 2020 ?

To me coaching is something you need to do as an apprentice for quite a while before making the big leagues. It's almost like a CEO role.

It certainly helps but there's always exceptions to the rule - Stuart coached the Roosters after a few years of retiring. And there's the scenario when you've been an assistant coach for too long. Why aren't you getting a shot ?

You sound a bit like a fanboi mate...

Seriously though, people tend to think the grass is greener on the other side.
