i re watched the knights game... **** knows why... some of wades long kicking looked like they would hit the ground, but mcdonnel is a pharken flyer and got to them with ease.
he was also smart enough to not kick to uate on the full.

albert put in a nice long kick in the first half, something we should see more of.

and in the game like that, with our kicking copping a pasting, we really missed you know who...

but i like wade, he will come along nicely, his first full season of half back, judge him at the end of the season, not 6 weeks in under a rookie coach, with a new structure he is only just getting fimiliar with

he will come out with a good kicking game this week, it seems when he gets to play at home his kicks are perfect

Can you please outline games when specifically he has had a good long distance kicking game?

As I am yet to see one. The best I saw was last season when he put up a couple of bombs and got results, but thats different to kicking a ball to open space or kicking a ball long and having it pull up in the in goal.

Anyway the last thing I want to be doing is giving Graham grieve but I just dont see when and why people keep saying he has shown he is a quality kicker BUT can be inconsistent at times.

I couldn't remember which game(s). Cheers to Mark and others who have better memories.

Also let's put it into context with last year. He's an upgrade on Tim Smith whether it's short or long kicking. Would love to use Kelly more for the short kicks though.

Agreed.

Whether Wade's kick comes off right or not, I generally understand his intentions behind his attempted kick. With Smith it was anyone's guess WTF he was attempting off the boot. Wade seems to have a thought process behind what he does as opposed to kicking in hope.

snowman makes a good point about us missing J-Mo out of dummy-half. He could of taken a bit of that pressure off Wade and AK's kicking.

Wade will learn. At the moment he's just trying to kick it too hard, rather than focusing on placement.

Tell ya who had a good boot. Scotty ****ing Porter. Dude played for $20 bucks a season too which frees up plenty of room for some big signings. Is he still around? Could an SFP/AK47 combo work if needed ?

Porter has a great kicking game, takes on the line, guides the team well and would compliment AK47's so-called X Factor. I wouldn't count him out in the future if Graham doesn't cut it.

To say Graham plain out doesn't have a kicking game is a massive exaggeration and plain out wrong.

He did not have a good game off the boot against Newcastle. No debate over that. But I think he's shown he can have a good long kicking game. Gallen has acknowledged a couple times that is where we were outplayed with Mullen getting them out of trouble with kicks. So I'm sure it'll be worked on.

Anyone know if our halves have any specific help? A lot of clubs will bring in an ex player or retired specialist half to help with these sorts of issues.

his long kicks are fine i think, its his short kicks that need placement. actually kelly should be kicking the short kicks

a lot of ppl have said they would like wade to evolve into a lock. and if the rumours are true about a new halfback signing or smith or porter suddenly turn into a superstar he would b forced into a positional change.

i was wonderin what ppl thought of wade playing hooker. his defence is up to it, he has a good passing game, he could kick from dummy half, he has a good footy brain, he could play 80mins.

me personally i want him halfback for a while yet, hes only 21 and has a LOT to learn. but i also like the idea of having a player like tyrone peachey on the bench as a loose forward who can also play hooker if required. i am kinda over the hooker rotation.

I still think Graham has the chance to be a great half.

However, I don't see him ever being a great back rower. He'll cut it in the back row but I see it as a waste.

no matter where he ends up, he will always be handy having someone either in the backrow or hooker, or in the halves, someone who can tackle, kick and pass. As stated before, he has good skill, and a good footy brain, he will always be handy no matter where he plays.

I see him as a 5/8th only, his best games were at 5/8th from what I recall.
If we moved Kelly to halfback would it change Kelly's game?

Considerably IMO. I agree that Graham is a specialist 5/8, unforutnately I believe Kelly is even more so as Kelly needs the room to move a bit more then Graham.

Gards frees up so much room to move as he needs none. I dont see Graham as our long term 6 or 7 from what i can see.
