apparently he wants another year as well
He better die and come back reborn (as not as much of a shadow of himself as he was) Fifita style then

Haha **** imagine if we give it to him.

Surely we're not that dumb.

We might give him to 300 if he immediately accepts he's a Jets player afterwards. More than happy for him to move on to next chapter though

I guess the only thing is he wouldnt cost anything. His salary would be straight up long serving player allowance wouldnt it? Noone else qualified for it so he’d get it all and i doubt anything else. Robs someone else of a spot in the 30 though and also seems to be an auto pick regardless of form

Why does nobody else qualify?

Well is there another player than qualifies?
$0.188m – Veteran and Developed Player Allowance for eligible players who were either developed by the Club prior to becoming NRL players and / or have been a Top 30 player for at least 8 years at the Club or have been a Top 30 player for at least 10 years across the game

(now up to, or going up to $500k)

So developed by club and/or top 30 for at least 8 years, there's probably a few
Top 30 player for 10+ years, at least Dale hits that one, maybe Cam

Thats either worded very poorly or is just very poor.
“Developed by the club prior to nrl” so what if you were to sign a ****in 18 year old star to a flegg deal then promote him 6 months later to nrl he instantly qualifies? (Not that hed be the only one with a piece of that pie)

I just think it should be long serving player at same club minimum 8 years…

I agree not very clear, I interpret that the '8 years' stands though
So sign an 18 year old flegg star, he is eligible when he is 26 as long as he has stayed in development and top 30 pathways, because he has either (and / or) been developed or top 30 for 8 years

So there'd be a handful of the 'young' guys currently in our team who have been part of our system for 8+ years

There is really no excuse for a club to not have someone eligible to give them this extra bit of cap - you have retained no juniors and signed no veterans?

We could debate about whether it should only be a bloke in top 30 at same club for min 8 years if we really wanted but it simply is not the case currently

There should be 2…long serving player (at same club min 8 years across any/all grades) and a veteran payment. That way if you have a club legend (gal/wade/fifita etc) that player can have their swansong year without any cap implications

I know I said we could debate but I'm not sure I feel that passionately enough about it either way to actually do that haha

I was just pointing out that as it stands we likely have plenty of guys who tick a box to ensure we have access to the little bit of extra cap it offers.
If it's marked against Wade right now and he leaves we just mark it against Dale or Blayke or whoever.

Now as it goes up (as system currently is) it does become a bit more important to manage, if a club couldn't tick box for 188k cap boost that's kind of a bit oh well, but not being able to add 500k to your cap is bigger deal. In fact you probably do want at least a few eligible players at any given time, with more in your pipleline.
Extra 500k is a genuine top 17 quality player, or maybe 3-6 backups who are good prospects rather than pure squad fillers. It'd be a lot to leave on the table but genuinely lets you compete to retain your system players too.

Only way he makes 300 is we make grand final from what’s being said.
He's on 289 so we'd have to go the long way (no wk off) & GF would be his 300th. Be some ****en story ... one them fictional ones lol

If he didn't get that 4wk sit down he'd just have to finish the regular season

He’ll have to cop grand final win on 299 and kick himself for fighting the charge
