i would love too, but for us westies, it means leaving home at 8 am, and staying there til 4 pm, tough day at the office.
i think a reserve grade system should be in place, a better one, with every team in, also same for 23's, what ever they decide to make second tier plays before, the other has the same draw but played the day before/after

yeah i was watchin the nsw cup last week and the commentators were sayin how poor the crowds were and that they are a forget league along with the bundaberg red cup. they suggested that the nrl should make a national competition so then these teams could get time on television.

What do u reckon if the NRL made a two tiered competition were teams got relegated and put into the lower division

i reckon it would be alright cause then there would be competition and we would be able to keep more players in Australia

i dont think it would survive on a relegation promotion system like the superleague as the money isnt in the game to do it... at the moment.
but processes like these need to be negotiated with the next t.v rights and then the newtowns and north sydneys could come back and have something to play for

it would good to watch and would promote the expansion of Rugby League. But i agree with u cause there is definitely not enough money in the game at the moment.

It's not a bad idea, but I reckon we'd see what you see in European soccer, if a team get's relegated, the top players want out because they want to play in the top division. They'd have to sign strict contracts saying they stay with the club no matter what division they're playing in. Could get messy.

very true, and also, if there are relegation clauses in contracts, and teams have spent the cap, then the stars will go over seas.
or they could join the team that comes up. it would have to be thought of very carefully, as would draft systems and the age uping on the toyota cup

Yeah thats true but they should have contracts these days saying that u can not leave the club during ur contract. they could also make it so then players can only sign for a couple of years at a time.

ok, but if the competition was to end tomorrow, you would see jonothan thurston in division 1............. not a good look for the game if the premier half is running around against park footballers

A 2-tier system is a joke for reasons above, but in particular because it would be the death of the Cronulla Sharks. It would be about the same outcome as the Sharks being kicked out of the NRL and existing only in the NSW Cup.

Its a money issue. Most clubs can't afford to run 3 teams each week and have them play home and away games against other NRL sides.

yeh, but if the next television deal is thoroughly negotiated, there is no reason why they couldnt make a suitable cap on all

Here's a crazy plan...

NSW Cup / QLD Cup exist as they do now in that they are state based comps, except they are played on Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday nights.

They get played on TV and get their own money. They also try to attract the after work crowd as they're played at suburban grounds and people can usually drive and park there without any dramas.

Even Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday could be good. Then you've got footy 7 days a week.
