Yes & no. I'd hope all the training, high performance stats & whatnot that go into it would shed a bit of light.
Fair call. He definitely didn't look like slowing down on the weekend though and that was about as tough as it gets with defensive work rate.

Looked good
Whether he can handle it regularly we don’t know, but we saw he can at least dig deep for it if needed.

People love to pretend the stuff they don’t see doesn’t exist
I'm not sure that's what I was doing.

Never claimed he could handle it regularly, just that he could handle it and I'd like to see him get the chance consistently.

If he then showed he couldn't handle it my opinion would definitely change.

I’ll have to leave it with you to figure out, as I wasn’t referring specifically to you

Same for what you did or didn’t claim, was just agreeing in that instance he pulled it off

I feel like it was a fair assumption given the post you replied too. All good.

Hopefully he hasn't fractured his cheekbone or something. Be a big blow.

Edit. On review looks unlikely.

if he misses a game because tom burgess apparently didnt touch his head, i will have the shits big time

his rise into a first grade prop has been sensational

I love his defense too, for such a big guy. On more than one occasion in the Panthers game Hazelton was the guy wrapping up Cleary after he'd shrugged off everybody else and was headed through the line.

I can't believe or the commentators thought there was no contact to the head. Looked pretty black and white to me.

Mind you I think the sin binning has become ridiculous. Put it on report and move on.

i agree, but not just the commentators, journos were all over it saying he hit his chest

disagree with the sin binning, especially for that tackle

we lost tom for the remainder of the game, burgess had to spend some time in the bin, if there was more than 10 minutes left in the game i reckon he would have been sent

Imagine the commentators if he got sent off!

Wasn't to happy how he shyed away from that contact. I know Burgess is a big nugget, but If he can get to the point where he meets those collisions wanting to win at any cost, we will have a weapon. Not sure how the body will hold up though.

Harsh critic
By the time he secured ball and looked up Burgess was already shooting at him. He braced and took contact from an international prop and lost like two steps backwards despite it hitting him in the head. In fact if it hadn't hit his head he's not wrapped and can probably turn and run.

I guess the difference is interpreting it as bracing for contact vs shying away - lot more props in the NRL doing the first vs the second though I'd suggest

Mate he handled that brilliantly. Any other soft cock would have gone down in a screaming heap and tried to milk the penalty. Tommy got straight back up and seemed very reluctant to go off.
