hahaha! It was a long elevator ride with lots of small talk about the weather.

Everytime we drive into Canberra with the kids, mostly on a Sunday (not since Covid), and we drive past Eaglehawk, there's always 50 lycra wearing arsehats on the highway, most of them three abreast.

I always make the joke of speeding up and opening the passenger door. Always.

That was until the 4yr old took it literally and tries to open the door. Surprised to learn modern cars still have child locks!

What a great kid. He’ll go onto bigger things for sure, like running them over

Reddit is a ****ing circle jerk of the biggest fart sniffing wankers with an internet connection. Absolute echo chamber of unoriginal, unfunny tossers all saying the same **** "thank you kind stranger" and "yes officer this comment here" and getting repped for it or someone actually paying to rep it.

I'd give this comment gold if I could afford it

I've never used Reddit. Chad, can you please give me a brief description on what it is?

There may already be a closed Sharks subreddit
Someone on there once asked me if I'd been invited to it and I said no, and then I still hadn't

If we moved to http://reddit.com/r/sharksforever day to day things would run pretty similar. As long as it was closed we could keep too many randoms out but may get a little more exposure to random trolls.
Would lose all the historical stuff stored here though like old scores etc

Do you get any sort of error message ILLmac or does it just time out?

I haven't been visiting a real lot lately with the league shutdown, but probably only had issues one or two times.

I think there's a wider discussion as the best way for the forums to go forward, given I've been pretty lazy with it for a long time.

I've sometimes thought it could be good to migrate to a subreddit on reddit, and just maintain this as an archive, if the majority were keen.

Just an idea though.. if everyone's fine with things as is, it can just keep going.... I guess just know that I'm not protective about things, if someone had better ideas for the future.
Sorry mate I can hardly log on so dont see mostof the new messages in here.

Yeah I get an error message, i'll screenshot it next time and give you a look to see if you make any sense of it.

I live on Reddit, it's really really good. The only downside is you would need a subreddit within a subreddit if you wanted to have playerdiscussions like we have in here.

I'm much more active in LU forums, i find it easier to use. A really big for me is that you are notified when people quote you. I'm sure alot of times in here people have quoted me and I've missed the message completely because I never saw it. I also enjoy the ''like'' feature in LU forums.

Not sure if we can implement those features here?

Do you use your phone or computer? Whenever I log in on my phone I have a “not secure” message in the web address bar. Something might be triggering a firewall or something

I use both and have troubles on both.

I just deleted my cookies so will see if it makes a difference.

Yeah I think that might be the error I have had in the past. Usually when I have a problem it is on phone and PC (but if I am at work it's same network, not sure if I have tried taking phone off wifi) and then after a random period of time it will work again

Thanks for all the feedback from everyone. Seems like there's definitely mixed opinions on Reddit (and I have the same feelings!). Obviously it would be better not to split the community in two, but as said before, if people want to push in that direction, feel free.

I'm totally fine to keep this place going as is. I guess I need to just look at a few things though:
- If the errors continue, if you can send me the error messages that would be great. I can maybe move the hosting if there is ongoing issues
- Install a SSL certificate to get rid of the "Not Secure" warning. It's just a bit tricky with vBulletin when I tried before.
- Open up registration again and get some active (but not over-active) moderators
- I previously bought a copy of XenForo (the forum software used by LU), but then got lazy when I actually looked at migration. The migration is a bit risky with so many years of posts/attachments, and I sort of dreaded complaints from everyone happy with vBulletin and not liking change! But definitely something I could revisit.

I'll try to make more of an effort on these.

I should just add that I like the idea of new people joining in and trying their luck in the SF discussion Thunderdome
