He's down for next year, but we want to extend him through to 2017, so the current story goes.

Yeah I know, so threatening not to play him (if that's actually true) until he re-signs for 2016 is frigging ludicrous imo.

I don't even know how we are identifying who we'd like to recruit without the coach being there.

My guess: Noyce, Mooney, Gal and probably Shephard. Possibly some of the directors.

I think an unfortunate consequence of Sharp quitting is that not even he can go talk to prospective players. Talking to the 2015 senior assistant coach is a lot better than nothing.

I see it as more reason to go down the Football General Manager route and get in someone with experience and clout. Look at the Eels - they would make major decisions together but overall Arthur is left to actually *coach* while Anderson manages the football department. Every other major football code works like that because otherwise the workload on the senior coach is too great.

Yup, that's why I said 'if true.'

Sorry, didn't mean to have a go at you HB. I just wanted to emphasize that its a Lurker/Sportal rumour so most likely scurrilous. As it fits with many people's view of the Club at the.moment they're taking it as true.

Another example of confirmation bias at work here on the forum.

I know you weren't mate. Good to have you back on the forum.

I suspect it probably is BS, I can't imagine a club holding a young player to ransom like that. I also suspect the RLPA would take a very dim view of that kind of behaviour.

Given the amount of debutants weve had this year i think the cap rules are keeping him out. Wed get an exemption if gordon and gards were both injured

It is quite possible that this is true as I thought if a player retired you could instantly replace them but nope you can't - their spot is taken in the cap for that whole year.

But all I know for sure is the club is talking to Holmes to extend so we have to hope they get the job done.

What's the deal with DeGois and Stapleton's spots?

Are they allowed to be filled, or have they already been filled? Were Brown and Gagan originally in the top 25?

Also, what's happening with John Morris? I take it he has retired, but I don't recall ever seeing anything official?

Not being disrespectful....but unless u are alex mckinnon.

Newy are honouring his contract but will go exempt from the salary cap. Unlike a player we had that was going through cancer treatment

There doesn't seem to be much transparency with this kind of stuff which is frustrating. I can't find anything.

The number of games they are playing they would have to be top 25 or we will get a fine
