Nope. He’s off contract end of this season so they get nothing. ****ing idiots 😂😂
Even better is that he'll agitate for a release now. Storm will too. Tigers might end up with no Blore or Olam.

Though I actually think Olam is a bad signing. He's what the Oxford dictionary describes as Storm system player who wont play well at another club imo.

So, is there a time frame on when a decision on AFB is made or is it going to be one of those long drawn out circuses?
He's got a contract and the Warriors want someone going the other way. No chance it isn't long and drawn out!

They might need to free up cap, so maybe they might let him go early for less $$
I doubt it, they wouldn't sign Capes after AFB committed for another year if they couldn't afford him. You don't try force out a player like him.

Like MrDavid said too, hard to be quick when you have to negotiate a player to go back their way.

Quickest would be something like BHU entering negotiations with them and they just take that as as good as a trade.
If they want to try get a trade of a junior thrown in to find someone we'd agree to and who would also agree could be quite a long process.

If BHU did want to sign with them there may be an opportunity for a preseason swap as both clubs should be able to afford he players. And BHUs bro was living with him has gone to England now so he's out of the house. Braden may have zero interest in signing with Warriors of course, although they have all of AFBs money to try and convince him otherwise.

If they still wanted a 'trade' junior to finalise things it'd probably be up to AFB to agitate enough they give up.

Yeah he definitely isn’t worth anywhere near what he’s currently on. Past few years have been pretty average by his standards.
Only thing in clubs favour is it was pre-ratchet agreement so on equivalent 850k compared to cap when he signed.
In saying that, is he a 850k-1mil player currently? Don't think many would say yes.
But it's better than his 1mil scaling up with the cap.

Don't think you will see many contracts now not include the ratchet as it is wanted by NRL so they can reduce salaries in emergency scenarios (like covid cost saving) and wanted by RLPA to keep fair distribution from cap raises, rather than new money being split amongst the top players.
You could maybe negotiate it out of your contract in terms of pay rises (only reason you might is a contract like this/JT where it is great money guaranteed long term) but can't imagine NRL would accept a contract which didn't have it as the reduction - and seems like a player wouldn't want one without the other.

Good info there mate.

Personally I see his worth being around the 650k-700k mark max on his current form (spanning 2 years).

For me a million dollar player needs to be playing 80 minutes every week and obviously be in the top 2-3 players at their respective club. He’s not even in the top 4 now imo.

So not keen on AFB then?

Tigers have officially offered AFB a 4 year deal at 4mil.
I don't love the 4th year, but I think we could match that. If you can get high quality out of him at 29 and 30, hopefully his body holds up for the last two years and we aren't stuck with a huge cap waste like Fifita was.

Means we need to be ready for a run at the title in 25/26 though. I think more than AFB needs to fall into place to make us a chance. I think we need Dykes to kick on quickly, kinda like Ezra did this year. We'd also need one of Kennedy or Brailey to step up another level, and the left edge to defend strongly too.

Not too far fetched, but a lot to go right.

What manly did was so smart though. Raided all the islanders out of Parra juniors. Any time Parra get ****ed over I'm here for it.
Yes true dis, but behind the scenes they (( Toovey,Cliffy and Co)) have swung the focus back big time to local Jnrs, and more widespread( ie Ex Syd) recruitment focus ), as they have had some well publicised ( and several not so well) club 'cultural' issues, and recent failures, alah thru Fultons' Regime.

Was meant to write ‘or’ being in the top 2-3 players my mistake. AFB at that price is steep but he’s exactly what our team needs right now. Would pay it but only for 3 years.

Tyrell May apparently asking for $500k for 2025. Only young and a good prospect. Wouldn’t hate it. Half AFBs asking price.
