I just have his habit of leaving every contract early in mind.
Isn't that more reason to give more years? He may not take them up anyway. I'd rather not have to renegotiate for him if he's still going well.

Well it's really six of one, half a dozen of the other I suppose.

If he is here longer and wants to bail, as he has done we have to renegotiate with him and others anyway.

I’m reading it as 750 K plus the saving on Dale plus quite a few players coming off contract .

Plenty of funds to afford him ..
Yeah although wouldn’t surprise me if we did let one of the off contract middles go

BHU
Williams
Colquhoun
Kaufusi (MO)
Hazleton (CO)

Kaufusi obviously the consensus forum vote.
Hard to see a world we don’t take a CO on Hazleton… more likely we extend and upgrade than let him walk.

If BHU can get a better off than we can afford I could see him leaving.

I'm reading it that $750k is the saving on MM and CT but, consider that BB and CL have now been brought in that $750k would be a bit less. Not much, but it's spent money even at minimum wage. Sharkcast also reported that some upgrades were done out of the CT/MM money.

But in reality, who the fekk would know so my thought is that however the money is there if we are in for the big fella we have it or know how we are getting it. We don't even know if the reported million he is on is all salary cap money or if there is Mad Butcher paper bags included.

I still believe there needs to be more culling though.

Wouldn't be surprised if Hazelton has already been upgraded.

We will have 750 plus 400 dales money in 2025.
Question is whether the club would throw 1.1 plus at him. History tells me no

The 750k needs to fill 3 slots in the top 30 so even with Dale's reduction it really is going to come down to how much we spend on retention.

They can't. He's apparently on an even mill so is not allowed to get more if he asks to leave, which he has. This was a safeguard the NRL brought in years ago to stop players leaving clubs on whatever grounds stated when all they wanted was a bigger deal.

For me Uele will be the one who we don’t re sign. Too inconsistent for me. On his day a gun player but we don’t see it enough.

I don't think I'd show any prop the door. What happens if one gets an injury? What if we get AFB and he's the one who gets injured? I'd be looking at moviing on Katoa or Talakai. We have more back depth than forward depth for mine. And although some are greener than broccoli it's easier to bring in young backs and get success as a team than bring in rookie props. Beside, if AFB comes I'd bet the others lift. There hasn't been a prop leader for awhile.

I love Sione but think we see him make way for Stonestreet in the next few years.

Same. Just thinking business wise.

Have changed my mind though after having a yarn with someone. My hunches may be way off track.

While not impossible by any stretch you’ve named two of our six players contracted for 2026.

I guess an argument can be made for both being willing to leave
- Sione if falls to reserve grade
- Talakai if moved and not liking forwards

Not sure Sione would fall to reserve grade before an AFB deal gets done though. And have to find a landing spot for him to leave - Warriors won’t want that trade.

As for your first sentence if our prop depth is
AFB
Rudolf
BHU
Williams
Hazelton
Hunt
Kaufusi
Colquhoun
If one gets injured what happens is one of the other ones plays.

Yes, I did that knowingly. It's just because there's not much money tied up in the 2024 ending contract players. BHU and Willy perhaps the most expensive.

With the prop depth if the injury was AFB then we are back at square one. Rookies and small minute players. That's why I wouldn't move any on.

Anyway, as I said, changed my mind now and don't think any more will go this year.
