I think people need to disregard what position a guy played when determining his coaching role. Craig Bellamy being a second rower didn't hurt Billy Slater.

I can see why Ennis would have been helpful to Jayden Brailey in year one learning the exact system Flanno/Ennis played the 2 years previous, but that time's long gone now. I'm sure there is plenty an NRL fullback can learn from a really good coach no matter what position he played.
Further to this a players ability to execute certain skills at a high level doesn’t specifically correlate directly to his ability to teach those skills, or not.

Bellamy seemingly pretty good at coaching spine, for example. Also there is a non-zero chance DJ is a better halves coach than Maloney or Pearce is despite being a lesser NRL half.

Next season we'll be seeing Manly players pull the headgear off the opposition and throw their shoes out of the ground.

Mitchell Pearce would be my go to for assistant coach.
Our half’s need as much help as possible.

Ennis looked after pathways here, so different role at Manly.

Does Tommy Turbo really need Ennis telling him how to fullback?

Yep but was hoping he would step up into our spine coaching role.

Our spine has so much more potential that still needs to be unlocked.

I'm sure people plenty of people are also thinking that Ennis could help Fitz with Brailey's gameplan.

Bellamy was mainly a centre wasn't he?

Playing career

He played his early junior football for Portland Colts. Bellamy also played for Oberon Tigers in the Country Rugby League as a teenager before moving to Macquarie United in the Newcastle Rugby League in 1979.[citation needed][6]

The Canberra Raiders signed Bellamy in their début season, 1982. He played the majority of his career in the centres but was also used as a utility player, appearing at times as fullback, winger, five-eighth and lock. After the Raiders won the 1989 NSWRL season's Grand Final (which he wasn't selected for), Bellamy travelled with the Raiders to England for the 1989 World Club Challenge, but didn't play in the loss to Widnes at Old Trafford.

No mention of second row here.

Not sure I'd put Staines in the big loss basket.
Ivan's biggest strength as a coach seems to be to understand the style of play needed to get the best out of his squad (or understand the strengths of his players and find the style to suit, depending on how want to cut it). The Panthers looked pretty different with Kikau around and as he and others cycle through, they just keep adapting.

Maybe it's the"cream on top" that a great fullback can pass onto an in up and coming one.

Ps. I only recall Belamy as a defensively sound & earnest centre for the Canberra Faders . Small in skill & stature, but big on heart.

Hmm, Mitch doesn't strike me as a bloke who is plagued by thoughts. He could show our halves how to not secure a win when your Blues pack is holding their own in the middle.
So Many of those Origin matches in the balance and QLD Smith, Thursten, Slater Superior game management would get QLD over the line.

P$&-- me off no end.

You feel like that's really what a coach is there to bring. Sticky's made a career out of it

Ennis wasn't our spine coach. He was managing pathways. We need to steal Lee Hopkins for that.
Yep. I know.
I’m saying I would have liked him to have stepped up into that role, but now he has left, I hope we have someone who is extremely capable (excellent) in that role instead.

Bellamy
1 Fullback
5 Wing
62 Centre
11 Lock
44 Bench.
154 games for Raiders

I think he probably did have the odd run in the second row in those bench games.
