Further to this a players ability to execute certain skills at a high level doesn’t specifically correlate directly to his ability to teach those skills, or not.I think people need to disregard what position a guy played when determining his coaching role. Craig Bellamy being a second rower didn't hurt Billy Slater.
I can see why Ennis would have been helpful to Jayden Brailey in year one learning the exact system Flanno/Ennis played the 2 years previous, but that time's long gone now. I'm sure there is plenty an NRL fullback can learn from a really good coach no matter what position he played.
Bellamy seemingly pretty good at coaching spine, for example. Also there is a non-zero chance DJ is a better halves coach than Maloney or Pearce is despite being a lesser NRL half.
