I would love to know who the f**k we have in place to replace Sifa because he’s been our best back not named Will Kennedy

If that story is true we have rocks in our heads

He only got dropped as collateral for Moylan which is even more sad
I guess it would make sense IF it was determined that Sifa wasn't going to be a centre long-term. We wouldn't need him in addition to Nikora and Wilton on that money. It would then also free up some money to target a centre like Best.

I think Talakai has his own defensive issues that aren't exclusive to Moylan, but I'd like to see him get a run with some others on that edge consistently before writing him off as a centre.

I feel a bit sorry for Sifa, he certainly has his issues out there defensively but his entire time at centre for us he's been playing on an edge with a young backrower who's too busy trying not to get ****ed over by our 5/8, Moylan impersonating a speed bump and a winger who hates staying in position.

I don't recall that edge being as abhorrent last year? Did we just not give up as much meterage to let opps pepper our line so much?
Or did Wade bring more there as an edge defender than we gave him credit for while we all complained about him being in over Teig?

I will say Moylan probably the worst of the lot but all have been individually to blame at various times, all have been poor.

I'd have to go back and watch some footage to refresh my memory but was it really that much better last year?

Teams were certainly targeting it to get down field last year

"Have it on pretty good authority that Connor Tracey is desperately trying to get out of his deal with Cronulla, however Cronulla refuse to let him leave as the belief around the squad is that Siosifa Talakai is the one being shopped around quietly and are hoping for his form to improve so they don't need to chip in too much. Cronulla aren't impressed with the way he has played since signing his big $ contract late last year after playing origin when his stock was quite high and are hoping to offload him. Parramatta had a verbal agreement with Tracey but have now cooled there interest due to Cronulla's unwillingness to let him go.
Interesting that Parramatta can get a verbal agreement, despite not being allowed to talk to him until 1 November.

Nothing stopping it

NRL Club to Player Manager: "We'd like to discuss signing Connor" ❌

NRL Club to Player Manager: "Just wanted to confirm Connor's contract status? Oh contracted next year still for now? Such a shame we could probably use someone like him... Oh he might be interested in hearing more you say?" ✅

Player Manager to NRL Club: "My client Connor is looking at his options, is there any interest from you?" ✅

An informal chat sounds a little different to a verbal agreement though

They losing Uto anyway if he enacts clause - gives us money to after him. They couldn't lose Klemmer before confirming they can retain Uto
They're not losing him for 24 though are they, even with the various clauses? I thought it was 25 onwards?

Yep that's right. If he doesn't play SOO or Tigers don't make the 8 (hahahaha) next year he is free to leave.

A little deeper dig it looks like a player can verbally agree to terms but not a contract. A player cannot be offered a contract, the NRL will not accept a contract (and putting one in front of them would be a breach).
If the player/manager and club want to shake hands what may be agreeable if player is released from current contract that apparently is okay.

So Connor could verbally agree to terms now but nothing on paper (in the form of a contract). Would need us to release him before a contract could suddenly appear in his managers in-tray 5 minutes later matching what they have agreed (or not if a club wants to **** him but that would have major backlash).

So basically do what you want with a tiny bit of insecurity of need to break other contract before things can be official.

So we get Uko now and they get Talakai now. They won't let klem go for 24 if they aren't confident they can retain Uko.
