I have to laugh when i hear comments like this from a guy like Freeman (Tallis also). League ia a funny business, ex players get into rolls where really given there emplyment history know other organisation would consider employing them. Freeman and Tallis belted there heads against other blokes for 20 + years between them yet they are now the guys suggesting where the NRL should invest money? Only an idiot would listen to such advice.

Another example.... Would Paul Osbourne be considered for the CEO job with any other company outside the NRL? He wouldn't even get through the first round of interviews with anyone. Also our old Admin headed by Barry Pierce and sludge probably showed that ex league players are not the right people to be running the club.

I love the fact that our CEO and chairman has run a successful business of his own. He is not a Rugby League puppet like some of the others. I believe this is why he and sticky butted heads. Ricky was not experienced at cutting costs to run a successful business like Irvine has so far proved needed to be done. Another example of a good businessman at the helm who isn't a league player would be Todd Greenberg....

Ummmm... just a correction there

The Chairman is Damian Irvine.

The Sharks don't have a CEO, they have a CFO (Chief Financial Officer), a General Manager of Football and a General Manager of Corporate

The CFO's name is Gy Wallace.

The General Manager of Football is Darren Mooney.

The General Manager of Corporate is Peter Beaumont.

Is Jarrod Johnstone still at the Club, I believe he was one of the main contributors to the Members Jersey idea

No, Jarrod left at the beginning of this year. Jarrod is now General Manager Commercial Operations & Service with the Nathan Tinkler owned Hunter Sports Group.

Jardian Ormsby fills most of the duties that were undertaken by Jarrod.

Have you got any sources for any of this info? It'd be very handy to have with arguing with people!

I attended a General Info meeting at the Leagues Club where this info was shown it was the same info that Gallop received which left Gallop satisfied

Brisbane, it's crap
That's so ridiculous! The Sharks move to Perth? That's just crazy...people should stop being crazy. Gosh, why is everyone so crazy. If that did happen though, I think I'd die a bit inside :(

Johnstone was Retail and Stadium Manager at the Sharks, dont really think he would have had much pull with Snowy

He might not have the title that's why i said CEO and chairman. He and Mooney split the duties as i understand it. I am fully aware of what the abbreviations stand for as well.

His handling of the development thus far has shown why a person with business sense outside of football has much more to offer because they havent lived in a fish bowl their entire working life.........

Surely there is no way the NRL would even think of moving us considering the big money development we have on the way. Can't wait for it to be approved.

He indeed was. A great intitiative. He borrowed the idea from an AFL team that embedded their immortals names into their jersey and duplicated the idea for Sharks members. Definitely a great initiative for the Club to carry on, particularly as we are the only team in Australian sports to do the Members Jersey.

Freemans comments did annoy me, but the so-called match report in the Telegraph was just complete tripe! Back page all about the Dogs woes and then inside more of the same. Actually, they're Friday morning "match previews" are just as woeful.

out of interest does anyone know how much the club relies on pokies for revenue.

i read this quote today from clubsaustralia.

"Already St George Leagues Club has said it will be withdrawing its $3 million annual support of the Dragons when mandatory pre-commitment technology starts. That means the current NRL premiers will either fold or be sold into private ownership"

just interested how this 'might' effect us?

At the end of the day WE have the development as our silver lining, many clubs out there dont have a silver lining and ultimately 5 or 10 yrs wont be around its fact.

We are very lucky to have the potential development. Fact is without it we would be gone, no doubt about it.

You know what, after all we have been through, we as a group, and those before us (RIP Dad) deserve a successful club. That premiership will be the biggest party in town.

Absolutely, this development needs to be approved asap.

.

We are lucky to have this deal in place right now. What we now need to do is built it as big as we possibly can to maximize every single dollar to guarantee this future. And we need to get it approved now!

Every club has a silver lining, it's called the NRL negotiating a successful TV rights deal. All clubs will receive enough financial support to substadise a team under a salary cap.
