Simmons was a funny cat, for sure. He was like the Pete Sampras of footballers in personality.
Had a quick Wiki and saw he represented City once and finished the 2013 NRL season as the leagues equal leading try scorer for the regular season! Snuck in a few decent stats along an almost entirely forgettable career.

Simmons was always a good-to-solid winger, however coaches kept experimenting with him at centre and fullback.

Went to Penrith, they played him on the wing and lo and behold, he had a few really strong seasons there. Finished his career as a bit of a fan favourite in the West.

Yea I didn't relise he played for junior Kangaroos, rep player ect. Not the first time a player hasn't kicked on though.

He was 3rd choice at Sharks behind the like of Morris, Aiton, Degois ect.
Seems like 4th at best……

yea yea there was some overlap with the seasons the other 3 hookers were around - I don't think all 4 were here in the same season. was just generalizing

Stuart only played 14 games and was in 1 season for us. All I remember was him scoring a single try and sticking his tongue out like a flog, other than that he was very meh. thought he had more than 1 season here though.

I also forgot Morris was here from 2010 - I always associate him with the post Sticky, Shane Flanagan TigerShark 2012/2013 era

Degois second stint with Sharks wasn't crash hot, I mean he wasn't even clearly better than John freaken Morris at this point of his career but think injuries had a part

I actually liked Aiton, was the only threat

Met him a couple of months ago in PNG. He's assistant coach for the Hunters. Nice bloke. :)

Has anybody mentioned Corey Hughes? Geez 2009 was a disaster.

Ayshford, Dugan, Barrett, Cuthbertson come to mind for me.

And the bland boys Robson and Morris (although serviceable, never set the world on fire).

De Gois in his first stint was brilliant. Then the knights ****ed him trying to replace Buderus.

Yeah I really thought Barrett was trash for us. His heart never seemed in it and was just a plodder.

Yea De Gois was one of the best 9's in the game IMO in his first Sharks stint but a bit under rated outside our club. Was really good for us, especially in a 2008 team more known for it's defense that its attack he poised alot of questions out of dummy half and was a good defender too.

I think that's why Corey Hughes signing always bugged me. We lost DeGois for him. Issac was no good when he came back.

Hughes for De Gois and Kingston
Barrett for Kimmorley

Losing Anderson, Kearney, Bird and Seymour really hit us hard for 2009.

But still, not sure what Sticky was thinking of intentionally pulling apart the successful 2008 spine.

Man I was spewing when Anderson left. Not sure what happened after he left, think he went to Japanese rugby? Never really heard much about him after that.
