So Stan Sport is being released - not sure on pricing and as far as I know all they have so far is Rugby

Doesn't Ch. 9 own Stan? They should just put the Super Rugby on Gem or Go. Unless they're too under the thumb with the NRL, which I doubt

Dunno but it's gunna be every game though - a FTA network isn't gunna offer that up , might include the internationals too.

I am just testing a potential migration to a different forum technology (Xenforo). There may be some slowness tonight while posts get imported etc.

This is a demo of what the forum would (sort of) look like if I did go ahead with this migration:

http://sfpreview.sharksforever.com/index.php

This is a copy of the main site's data, but you can test posting there, as I'd throw the copy away later and use the latest data - note forum rules still apply :).

Also note that NOTHING that you post on this preview forum will show up or be retained in the real/live forum, it will be thrown out.

I'd be interested to get some feedback:
1. Can you login OK? You need to login again.
2. Is there anything critical missing, or any big issues?
3. On balance, is it worth going ahead? To me it seems look like it. Note that the theme would be updated, and the site changed to use SSL (as a minimum)

Looks great. But no rep or did I just miss it?

Thanks, it seems by default it's more about Likes/reactions (http://sfpreview.sharksforever.com/index.php?members/ ), but there also appears to be some Add-Ons that might cover this. I'll do some more research!

I maybe should have written it as THE preview forum. So everything you post here on the live forum will stick around, but new posts on the preview forum will be discarded if/when I do the full migration.

I like it !

Member details missing, ie number of posts, date joined etc
Thanks, I've added those now!

To be honest, I think our current site is unique compared to other Rugby League forums and is more user friendly and easy to navigate and read.

But if it needs to be changed due to issues with space, memory or archiving then I’m happy to change.

Thanks SF!

Looks great.
It's new and like everything new it will take a few goes to get use to it.

Maybe it's just me learning the new site but I couldn't work out (and Gards will definitely want I'm sure) how to quote multiple posts?? Maybe I just didn't look hard enough??
Gards will need to give us all a tutorial on the new version after working out how to do it!

I think "Postings" is also just catching up with everyone's historical posts as they don't seem to be up to date (but that might take sometime to swing across Or maybe, we just start fresh and save space).

Will there be a "on line" notification of members (ie little light like the dot we have)?

Yeah it's more the fact that this version of the software has been end-of-life for many years, and so it carries some risks, and is difficult to manage/maintain... like even adding an SSL certificate, or managing user registrations is tough. Plus it should be a little faster and more mobile-friendly. I'd do my best to make it look similar to the current style (maybe not overnight). I realise the risk that it turns people off, but I think at some stage it has to be tried.

Will take on board though, maybe I have to get the styles right first (I have noew updated the colors/styles a bit more this morning).

Thanks, with the multi-quote, you actually just click "Reply" on each of the comments you want to quote, and it should include them all in the Quick Reply box as you do. Not real intuitive, but I always struggle with the old multi quote too :)

I'll look at the other questions later!

So long as we have the little arrow that takes me straight to the last unread post, I'm happy with wherever we go!

Agree I like the clean and clear style of this site and it's different to most other footy forums - SF feels like an old school UBB format and I like that. It looks good on a big PC monitor but less ideal and user friendly on mobile

Ofcourse fully support migrating for practical reasons like security, ease of admin ect. and SF will try keep the style / theme similar anyway. Happy to support anything that makes the admins life easier and some newer or even existing members might prefer it so will defer to the majority rule on this

I think this system will actually work better for me - gunna be more multi's than a tab account

Maybe this needs it's own thread to get the most exposure and feedback? We usually just talk about streaming services, NRL bunker ect and stuff in here so some users might not bother checking the thread

Thanks for your efforts SF and some would have just made the change without consulting the user base - sounds like it's inevitable that we move over though but at least the timing of such can be controlled. My business website is going through similar pains of outdated templates and scripts which google is having a spack over - I only ask that it isn't launched on game day of first round haha

Is there much of a financial cost?

I'll try to make some time during the week to login and test out some of the features and get familiar with it

Does it fix how I still have multiple posts selected when I go to reply to something completely different later? Flamin' things gets me every time!
