NSW Deputy Premier John Barilaro has revealed the NRL's bold push for as many as four or five new 20,000-seat stadiums in Sydney has the backing of the state government, saying: "We're going back to basics".

In a development that all but guarantees this year's grand final will remain at ANZ Stadium, Barilaro on Monday said the Berejiklian government was "absolutely" supportive of the NRL's boutique stadia strategy, which proposes multiple "mini Bankwest stadiums" be delivered around the city over the next 10 years including a new venue at Liverpool.

Well hopefully Kogarah being on that list doesn’t mean that we’re going to come under pressure to join the Dragons there permanently. We’ve got a perfectly good stadium already thank you very much.

No we don't.

Shark park needs alot of work, we can't even have finals there, and if comes down to a permanent move to a brand new stadium where we can have finals verse spending millions of dollars on Stadium upgrades they don't have I don't blame them for going the Kogarah route.

Personally I think the SFS will not be big enough .

It should mirror Suncorp as a 55k capacity and leave ANZ as it is - it is fine for a couple of events per year .

Yeah. Have said before, there's no chance we're at Shark Park in 10-20 years.

I thought ANZ was being left as is now?

If the club moved to a brand new reasonably close suburban stadium, sold the current stadium for more apartments and build a centre of excellence somewhere I'd be OK with that.

No stadium upkeep, the new Leagues club will do well with so many apartments near by and fans get a modern stadium that we can play finals at.

Plus better training facilities for the players which will also help with recruitment/retention.

There's disadvantages not playing near the leagues club but alot of clubs don't. We've just been lucky to have it.

Could make Sharks Park like Wenty Leagues and play all of the lower grade footy there.
Ringrose for a couple of games then over to the club for a few beers and a feed is a great day out.

The finals thing means nothing to me.

I’m happy to travel once or twice a year to attend a finals game (at most) if I really have to.

Yeah I don't mind that idea but also like Hensen oval for that. Besides best to monetise the land we have if we aren't using as our main playing ground.

It's not about you mate, its the advantage the team gets by playing at their home ground.

But is it worth moving 12 home games away from Shark Park to allow us to play the odd finals game at 'home?'

Anyway, it's a moot point. It will happen.

It’s maybe two games a year if we’re lucky. In the current situation a lot of people make the journey to the SFS for the occasion.

There’s no point moving our ground based on that alone.

If the players can’t win with the supporter base following them to the SFS once a year then they are too mentally soft to do it anyway.

Indeed it will happen. People can’t handle difference. We need all teams playing out of the same style concrete stadium with all supporters sitting in the same plastic seat. It’s the robotfication of society.

Shame we couldn't come up with a win / win
to get the upgrade money at Shark Park .
NRL could lease it out for other revenue .
Any generated crowds could visit leagues club , before /after so we gain some advantage

I never said it was for finals advantage alone did I, it would be for many reasons but ultimately about the $$$

And if the government/NRL are building 5 small suburban stadiums you bet your ass we'll be playing out of one of them.

No point arguing over it, the NRL and NSW govt. will change their minds another 15 times before quickly deciding on the wrong option and knocking it down 10 yrs later
