Sharks strengthen management team
Wednesday 3 April 2013 3:11 PM

Cronulla Sharks Football Club Chairman, Glenn Coleman today announced two senior appointments as part of an ongoing program to strengthen the Club’s management ranks.

Former Sydney Roosters and Wests Tigers CEO, Steve Noyce has been appointed General Manager Football and Gy Wallace, the Club’s Chief Financial Officer, has been promoted to the role of Chief Operating Officer.

Mr Coleman thanked Interim CEO Bruno Cullen for leading the recruitment and appointment process, and confirmed Mr Cullen will remain in his role for the foreseeable future.

“The Sharks have recruited some outstanding players and leaders on the field in recent years and we are now working through a similar process in our management ranks.” Mr Coleman said.

“When you add measures taken to secure our financial future through the $400 million Woolooware Bay residential, retail and community development on Club-owned land, the foundation blocks of a strong club for years to come are steadily being put in place.

“Steve Noyce brings an enormous wealth of rugby league and sports management experience to the specialist role of General Manager, Football. He is also regarded as a man who applies the highest standards of respect and integrity to his dealings with players, staff and officials.

“Gy Wallace is a finance professional with more than 15 years business in commercial, financial and operational fields. Since joining the Club’s executive two years ago, Gy has demonstrated a level of expertise and commitment that warranted his new role.

“We are delighted with these appointments which are a further step in building the most professional senior management team in rugby league.

“While there is a lot of work to with regard to the ongoing ASADA matter, strength and resilience have been hallmarks of this Club over the years and we are confident of a bright future.”

Mr Coleman said the Board of the Cronulla Sharks Football Club anticipated being in a position to announce further senior management recruits in the near future.

About the management appointees:

Steve Noyce has most recently been working as a consultant to the NRL with a focus on the players’ enterprise agreement. He has almost two decades experience as a rugby league executive having previously been CEO at the Sydney Roosters for four years until 2012, CEO of the Wests Tigers for nine years, General Manager of Sales and Marketing at the Sydney Turf Club for eight years, and CEO of the Wests Magpies for six years.

Gy Wallace has been the Chief Financial Officer of the Sharks Group since April 2011. So, what's people's beef with this guy?

People on this site beef for the sake of beefing ... Generally I ignore them an make my own opinions ...

Gy an Steve are more than we could of hoped for in terms of qualifications an experience .. Considering the talent pool we were fishing in I would say great appointments...

I hope Cullen sticks around longer ! He is good for the club!

Wallace has been there for 2 years. Good operator, he was in line for a promotion in my book anyway.

I think it was on the Radio today that Noyce will be in charge of our football club, from what I recall his track record is underwhelming to say the least.

I don't see his appointment as an astute move at all..........unless it has been suggested by the NRL.

Did Cronulla sign this guy or was he appointed by the NRL?
What exactly is his job?

So we have brought in the guy the Roosters sacked, the guy that sacked Todd Carney, and his first order of business is to secure Todd's signature. That will do me.

The Roosters sacked Carney for contract breaches. Steve delivered the news. The board made the decision. Doubt it will have any bearing on Todd's decision as he is not the same guy he was.
