Called into Squad .
Can't believe Sharks let a possible starting 2022 SOS halfback go and signed Nicho instead ;)

So we get the disease riddled, greasy haired second-hand Storm utility back as our half, who forces us to play no-other-offers Trindall, while local-legend Chad kills it by single handedly ressurecting the Cowboys franchise and NSW's series hopes?

...someone is bound to be saying on Facebook.

I mean I personally don't see why the state you grew up in is more important than your bloodline but your bloodline is more important than the country you grew up in. But apparently that's just my view and I'm aware that doesn't make it right.

To me it looks like if it wasn't for the money these guys would choose International games over Origin.

They are separate but NSW and QLD are Australian states, you are representing your state in Australia. You are identifying as wanting to play for NSW (or QLD), Australia.

I'd think most players should be fairly keen on also playing for Australia if selected.
Are you saying you don’t understand why someone’s bloodline/culture/family is more “important” to them then the state they grew up in ?

That’s not how I interpreted his post at all.

The way I read that was bort saying that he doesn’t understand why the order has to be…

state > heritage > country

… other than the money being more for origin

The more this discussion goes on, I actually find myself seeing the reasoning behind the rep round being removed (without necessarily agreeing).

As long as those rep games are still played after the NRL season, it keeps the best players all playing origin without any conflicts of interest, and for an individual player it maximises their rep opportunities (and earning potential). They can play all 3 origins mid-season and their test match(es) at the end of the year.

Players don’t need to choose anymore between playing SoO or International - and that is great (as long as there is still an International game played later in the year). It also means that the “tier 2” nations will have the strongest lineups possible because they will not be missing a handful of guys who chose to play SoO instead.

Exactly my point earlier mate. The only reason for exclusivity would be to have origin and international games played at the same time. Which there's no need for anyway.

Exactly and one of the best things for the game is if these teir 2 nations become genuine threats in the world cup. Tonga and Samoa can easily be better than England and comparable to New Zealand in the next decade. How great would it be having a World Cup where actually Australia, New Zealand, Tonga, Samoa and England and be a real chance of making and winning in the final. Then with further development of Fiji and PNG you then have a real quality tournament.

Yeah - but I'm still going to pretend it was my idea.

Jordan McLean has gone and done a hammy
“I still haven’t talked to my family and that’s going to be the hardest thing to tell them I won’t be playing next week.

“When you get your opportunities… I don’t know what’s going to happen in the future at the moment. I’m pretty disappointed.”

Blues coach Brad Fittler must now work out who replaces McLean, with Knights enforcer Jacob Saifiti tipped to make his NSW debut.

It’s understood Dale Finucane will come into the extended squad.

It means Reagan Campbell-Gillard, who played in the series opener and was controvesially dropped for game two, has been snubbed again.
