Well go on then

Just because he doesn't tear in off the back fence every run doesn't mean he isn't carrying the ball strongly. He's relatively quick to meet the defensive line so gets a lot of cheap metres that way, and then he uses his bulk and footwork to muscle his way through the first contact and chew up more metres (much like Petero used to). He also manages to stand in tackles more than probably any prop in the game which both sucks in extra defenders and creates quick PTBs from seemingly innocuous runs. I remember at one point last night he sucked in four or five defenders on the Qld line and created space on the right edge on the next play. All that is probably more obvious when you watch him in person - he's just really hard to pull down.

Stats back it up too. Most run metres for any forward last night.

He needs to be a little more selective with his offloads and he would be of much better player. One of the many great improvements in Fifita's game this year over last year is more more selective offloading. He should follow Fifita's example in this regard.

I had an interesting night watching the game.

Our local church was screening the game, organised by the Men's committee, so an all male assembly to watch the game.

They had an interesting guest speaker, only you old fans would know this fellow - Geoff Bell. Played with the Sharks from around 94-99, then went to North Queensland and Penrith before retiring in 2003.
I rememember him well, partnering ET on occasions, solid first grader without being spectacular.

He ran a little trivia contest on a theme of Dally M winners. He asked everyone to stand up and then he would mention a player and those who didn't know the player had to sit down. He did ask for honesty (and in the middle of a church you had to be!), said he would test people that were still standing. Thurston was the first player mentioned - an easy one to start with and then the further he went on the further back in time he got.

When he came to the last name there were around 8 guys still standing, but when he read it out, there was only one guy on his feet. That guy was me.
The name was Robert Laurie. When he asked me if I knew who he was, I was able to state he won the first Dally M in 1980 and played for Souths and the Roosters.

I felt pretty special that I knew the answer but I also felt bloody old!!!

Riveting reading that!

With a decent coach NSW have a good looking side for next year. Just need a hooker.

I rekon Toovey would make a great SOO coach, intensity not afraid to make hard decision, to much talk of mates and back slapping from Daley imho. Everyone getting excited for next year cause we won a dead rubber.

No mention on here about the stink that erupted when Jennings scored the winning try.
Just in cased it was missed...as soon as jenning scores Maloney runs at parker spraying him big time and lays an elbow or forarm straight on parkers chin
Maloney then runs around the other side of the pile on just as woods takes his swan dive with parker in pursuit......some one grabs parker and gagai runs in and the stink is on
If you get the chance watch it it slow mo.....its hilarious

Agree. Hasler too. The sort of footy Manly played under both of them would suit Origin. Not too many set plays, lots of backing up, lots of backing their skills. Fearless.
