I'm sure it's part of what is expected by the sponsors when they sponsor.

The club would say we have an email list of this many people, so your product/company will be going straight into their inboxes.

Your email address adds to the saleability of the Sharks as a sponsorable entity.

I have no doubts about that. No issue with it either. My issue is with continuing to get that stuff after unsubscribing.
