Illawarra should have been like Newcastle. The only difference is that Newcastle won that 97 Grand Final which created a groundswell of local support and pride in their team.

At the very least, they could put a little Steeler man on their sleeve like how Wests Tigers have done it with the Magpie.

It's a disgrace really. If any area deserves their own team, it's the Illawarra.

****loads of Steeler fans are pissed about the way that they got shafted by the Scum. At the same time, most of them have pretty much done a Faustian bargain where they became Drag Queen fans because it was really the only way they could lay any claim to a team of their own.

Exactly, this is what I am talking about. People here take for granted the fact they have their own team, that represents their home. People in the Illawarra had that and despite their lack of on-field success, now many are starting to regret the Steelers are gone.

This is what we have to remind people of. It is a priveledge to have your own team, not a right. Just ask the people on the Central Coast what it would mean for them to have a team that represents them.

People of the Shire fought hard to establish the Sharks, now many people here take them for granted or worse still, find it easier to support another team. This attitude has got to be resisted by those of us who live here and still BELIEVE!:good:

It's great to have so many Sharks fans from out of the Shire but the point is, you guys would all be in the vast minority, right?

Indeed I am in the vast minority I can only think of one other Sharks supporter in my local area off the top of my head and we don't even have a local side.

Me and him get on the piss and watch the mighty Sharks.... his a bit of a closet supporter but where I always try and wear something to represent Sharks he will only do it after a win he is quick 2 back me if some1 bags them out but.

Being in QLD and hating the dirty players that played for QLD and the broncos I could never support a qld team fullstop. Mum being a bulldogs supporter and Dad a knights supporter I was never going to support them. I like the colours of the BLUE BLACK n WHITE and loved the likes of ET and the peach when I was growing up so thats why I support the Sharks.

Born and raised in the shire I am now a sharks fan living in Newtown and its not just a Dragons influx in the shire. It is all through Newtown too which has a passionate Jets following and a massive Souths fan base. Truth is there are dragons fans everywhere as they have a massive fan base from the success they had 40 odd years ago.

I reckon the problem in the shire is that it is full of little tossbags walking around in fluro with their fringe covering half their faces and wearing board shorts that finish above the knee.
I say harden the funk up shire kids. get to the footy!
(Possible new slogan)

Its not actually that would be Darlinghurst. Newtown does have a hell of a lot of lesbians though.

I think this is a hyper-real problem not only in the Shire but across huge tracts of middle and upper middle class Australia.

It never ceases to amaze me the number of little ponces flapping around the place with stupid effeminate haircuts and naff girly clothes. What is even more bizarre is the fact that teenage girls seem to think that stuff looks hot.

This is the audience that we're trying to attract to the footy and they would have to be spending so much time primping and preening that they'd have little time or care for anything else than their appearance.

Surely the whole "metro" thing is getting old by now... Enough!

Grow some!

Drag Queen territory.
I never understood it myself, and I've only got one foot out the door of my teenage years. I admit I have some metro traits (I love to cook, I shave everywhere but my face) but when I was in high school all the metro/emo ****tards were the ones who got laid the most. Me, I did my own thing and paid for that.

well ****** I'm confused! I live in Forster, so the closest NRL team are the Knights. But up the road the Port Macquarie Sharks wear black, white & blue. My local team ( for whom I was the worst winger as a 13 yr old! ), the Hawkes, wear green & gold like our mighty National team.
What I am sure of though, is that when I see someone in a Bronco,Dogs,Souths jersey etc, I want to throw something rotten at them.
And when I see someone in a Sharks jersey, hat etc, I love them ( you know what I mean).
The Old Man's an Eels fan, Old Girls a Doggies fan, but I love the Sharks! Have done for as long as I can remember, don't know why, just renew my membership each year & pray that this is the one!! just told my missus I need to buy the new Member's jersey for 2011, that went down well! Ha! Go the Sharks!
