Where is Iro up to in this debate ?

Is he staying ?

Is he up to it ?

From my limited viewing - he does seem to glide across the turf like Val - admittedly in NSW cup ….

I think this pre-season is make-or-break for Kayal, atleast with Cronulla.
If he's not named to start the year at left centre I doubt he's still here by round 10.

I have no issue with Sifa not playing in the centres but there needs to be a better option. I don't feel as though CT is it tbh.

Was going to post that.

Also, I fear we'd miss some go forward without Sifa's hit-ups to start the sets. Tracey's kamikaze runs are nothing to sneer at though.

And a better option would have to be a centre who can too make the runs when/where it matters, with even better passing skills and great defence.
Not sure Iro could be that (especially in a rookie season), absolutely convinced there's no one right now on the market that fits this bill.

looks like Foxsports are **** stirring the forum with this Talakai piece.

Sam from Sharkcast said Talakai has been training at centre so far this off season.

Doesn't mean he'll start the year there, but interesting since we all thought moving him was a given.

I think plenty have suggested that, don't think many thought it was a given?

I think they found some of these easier than others. There are some real stretches.

Some make sense in isolation (NAS, Manu) but not in context (storm have few other middles, they don’t explain where Teddy goes it moves from fullback)

Which is crazy because there is absolutely no reason it is a given besides thinking you know best. I’m not closed to the idea of Talakai moving but it was far from a sure thing

Probably easier to get miles in him and have him push Iro/Hiroti/Dykes at centre. If one of them has coach happy enough he can move Talakai and ease him into new role via limited minutes and even Jets.
If we start focusing Talakai on forwards and becomes apparent nobody is going to do a better job at centre it is harder to undo.

OK, seems I've used the wrong wording here.

How about "since most of us think moving him out of the centres is the way to go".

As for what I think WILL happen, my guess is he's still named at centre come round 1 next year.

Read that. It's just an opinion/speculation piece from the author. Not much actual inside info.

I'm also calling BS on Talakai "burning up all of his energy in defence".

Only two problems with his attack were:
- too many errors inside his own end, and
- he got **** all quality ball once Trindall came in to the team

Both are fixable.

Oh yeah it's purely a filler article - we're all clicking on it though so they'll see what scenarios they can dream up to write about next, until something actually happens

I'm happy to say I don't know what will happen - I think you can argue for and against each option quite validly.

I do think it makes sense to start him doing preseason at centre to ensure he is an option there if nobody else emerges.
Ball is likely in Iro's court to prove to coach he is in the best 17 - he'd presumably be the front runner to emerge and move Talakai.

If Iro can't do that in preseason when given the chance to compete then that's on him and nobody else, he doesn't deserve the chance to play on NRL stage just in case that motivates him to step up. The jersey is right there, step up now.

We are only clicking cos Jax posted it….
Yep, but still pays the same though! Hope he is getting a cut!

How new was his role as second tackle Talakai?
