I know we are losing “the 3 players mentioned earlier” but that doesn’t mean we have cap space to chase RCG.

We could also be losing them due to cap pressures.
yeah defn doesn't, a batch of on contract players could all be getting more money, we could be looking to upgrade some players.

THere's so much going on behind the scenes it's all speculative on what we can afford or not. We're in good hands with Mooney though.

I recall a convo Flanno said when talking about cap allocation and they had a percentage guideline, can't recall the figures but was along the lines of 40% max into the spine etc. Given Mooney was there then, it's safe to say it was his guideline and I'm sure they still follow something similar.

The Kennedy hate is a bit over the top imo.

Can we do better, yes absolutely. Especially in a key position but for the price we're paying he's very good value. He's safe but he's probably reached his ceiling.

If people want a better fullback who are we losing ? because we have a cap. And dont just play make believe and say let BHU go, a club is going to want that player and be willing to take on that contract. So it's not that easy.

I hope/expect to see Ison taking the spot in 2026, but we're probably going to have typical rookie teething pains with him. So as usual I expect the usuals on here to death ride him. I dont wish injury on anyone but hopefully Ison can get a few more games next year.
All very valid points, re: value and availability, I said that in another thread about there not actually being many fullbacks available for us to target from 2026 because there’s no good ones off contract end of 2025 and even if there was, as you say would we have the cap space?

So we may be best off seeing how Ison, Dykes continue to develop before making a decision on Kennedy, but I don’t think Ison will be quite ready by 2026, I get the feeling he would be the year after. With Dykes it’s a shame because he has some definite X factor, however can he stay fit? That’s a big risk with him

Why dont you think he'll be ready by 2026 ? That'll be two years of NSW cup.

What's your definition of ready ? At that point, similar to Stonestreet I think any more development needs to happen in first grade.

He’s still only 19, I don’t think he would have played any NSW cup this year if it wasn’t for Dykes injury. Physically still looks quite small, an extra year in NSW cup would do him good. Wing is also a different proposition to fullback.

Happy to be proven wrong though

Well the extra year in NSW cup will be next year ?

He defn needs to pack on some muscle but he's about the same size now as Papi in both height and weight.

Wing is defn different to fullback, my point was I feel players reach a development ceiling playing NSW cup and it's the playing of first grade that then continues the development.

But he has, so you could say he is ahead of schedule
Meaning that an NRL spot could be available for 2026.

If he is good enough, he is old enough

I don't see the issue with it, can't expect a part time coach to turn down a full time NRL gig.
Absolutely, nothing wrong with it. If the Blues had flopped, Madge would have been looking at an assistant coaching gig with the NRLW.

I always thought NSW were being tight arses and trying to get a full time role for peanuts. That's wasn't Madge's fault and more of the attention should be on them.

Last one... The media goes on about picking the squad on form and not on incumbents, but go bat-arse crazy if the coach changes! The least important part of the origin team!
There is no way Dogs let Tracey go I think… especially for Kennedy
Reckon they'd consider a swap?
