We've had decent victories over a Sandow led Rabbitohs side and plenty over a Roosters side featuring Carney in the last couple of years.

That people are attributing way too much to any single player. We beat the Roosters twice in their GF year. Pearce and Carney vs Barrett and Timmah! And they were significant wins.

Townsend and Sandow went head to head this year too and Sharks won comprehensively.

What's to stop some relatively crap team beating the Carney led Sharks next year enough times to matter?

I agree mate but I just want to point out the divide between Carney and some of our existing players isn't as big as people think. It's a good thing in a way, I'm saying that we're not a team of scrubs that has suddenly landed a star player. We will still need to perform as a team and will only get success as a team.

Personally I think we have a better team culture than the Roosters and if we can get Carney to really be a part of that culture we could really be on to a winner. If everyone plays for each other I'm tipping big things.

i'm going to say that the Sharks will play Panthers round 1 as Toyota 7:30pm saturday night. if i remember correctly we seem to always play Panthers in the first 1-4 rounds.
