Cheers Gallop for not screwing us over on this one!

Yeah, you missed my point there, when Smith was signed people were calling him the saviour etc etc, how'd he go, I just really hope Toddy boy doesn't go down the same path.

Yeah I didn't mean to sound like a prick in my earlier post. More so saying that Todd is a much better player and has more chance of turning us around than Timmy ever did.

Gallop likes te sharks, he wants to see us survive and I admire him for that. So if gallop has said it's fine, according to that article he will sign tomorrow?

Holy **** 700k. I was thinking he would have been a bargain considering his situation. I will still be stoked when it's made official.
If we gel from the start the sharkies will become one of the juggernauts of the nrl for the next couple of seasons.

It seems to me that the Sharks have been seeking the advice of one well qualified brain mother##cker, 200g first year with 500g the second year if he behaves, absolutely brilliant

and to top that off if he misbehaves it's Gallop who's the one who says he's going to boot him out, we don't even need to do it, no messy contract bust ups!

You might think that paying 700k for the two season's is rich, but take my word, ifThe Real Todd Carney turns up at Shark Park for those 2years, getting him for 700k is a 3rd of what he is worth. 700k absolute Steal. Give it to em Toddy.

700k is a great contract to get carney. esp with it being split 200/500 to give him incentive to strive for the best.

when u look at it 350 for potentially a top 5 maybe even 3(on his day) half thats a great buy. I much rather get a quality half for 350 than a forward for that money any day of the week

Mate I don't think the sharks are paying him 700k over 2 years. According to David Riccio, its 180k in year 1 and 300k in year 2. Covell had a swing at the Sharkies asking why did we pay him so much. Irvine responded "don't believe what you read mate".

I really hope Sandow goes well but if I were a Parra fan I'd be worried, if he goes well I'll enjoy watching him play, just hope he stays focused (apart from when he's playing the Sharks - he's allowed to be very unfocused then ... giving him a hall pass)

Carney is worth a heap more than 350k a year. Pay him what he's worth (including a discount for his terrible media profile).

I actually thought Gallop might bar it, just because these things never go smoothly for the Sharks. Then I thought:

Proposition 1: Carney is a significant risk of screwing up again.
Proposition 2: Things never go as planned for the Sharks.
Proposition 3: When things go wrong for the Sharks, its usually the most torturous incident timed to cause the most ongoing difficulty and grief (e.g. Bird just weeks before the finals).
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Conclusion: What could be the worst thing Carney could do and when would it be?
