in games like yesterday when key refering decisions costs the sharks the win, should the nrl be able to right the wrongs and give the points to us?
As the video ref states he would have awarded bests try and the tigers should never have be awarded a penalty that led to marshall kicking the winning field goal, it should have been a sharks penalty, as we close to the goal posts it would have been a easy penalty goal or at the very atleast we should have retained possesion from the scrum as marshall knocked on.

You can't reverse decisions at the drop of a hat.

Particularly in the situation with gambling and bets being paid out.

Perhaps there could be the equivalent of "Correct Weight" that you have in racing where an official declares that the result is true and bets can be paid.

But then again, how would that work?

A five minute meeting in the rooms with the coaches, captains and refs?

Can't see that happening.

shït happens

No. Mistakes are made in games. It was a bad decision for sure, but changing results of games shouldn't be allowed.

A game like that is a good argument for bringing back the 80 minute draw though.

No ****in way.

The refs needs a legal system thats as public as the players one.

I wanna know what was said to the refs of that game. I want them to be dropped. If you make a major error that costs a team a game, you should be talked to and if you continue to do it... your fired just like any other job.

Gallen said it perfect last year, i want the refs to be pulled into the interview room straight after games with either Harrigan or Raper next to them answering the questions.

In your head, rent free
i agree jig but it cant happen

some days there are 3 games in one day and only 2 people running the refs

i think the refs should be made to face a media conference just like captains and coaches

imagine maxwell and his response when a journo says "yo jared, a player cant be offside on a charge down, so what was the penalty for?"

Honestly,

I can agree with the angst in regards to referee's performances... i really can.

But what bloody good would having a referee walk into a press conference with people just bagging out every single decision that they made during the game? What possible benefit other than the public hearing a referee publicly state that they got a decision wrong could come from it?

Every 50/50 call you are just going to get a stock standard response of 'i made the decision based on the position i was in and what i believe i saw'...

It would be the ridiculous thing to do.

It would achieve absolutely nothing.

I first thought "what a stupid idea" BUT

It has happened in the AFL, in 2006, Fremantle VS St Kilda, Fremantle were awarded the points the following week after they appealed. The siren went off, and the umpires didn't hear it, they allowed play to continue, St Kilda scored a goal and won the game.

I think each of the Sharks players and supporters should have been allowed to Teabag him on their way out.

Too much ball sweat worked up in that game without it being put to any good use.

Answering in the face of the public will put more pressure on the refs to perform. You embarrass them enough and they will pick up there game. Do you think after a spray from the jurnos and public that the ref of that game would even think about calling a try/no try again without going to the Video ref?
Dont think so mate. Sometimes you need to embarrass people to get them to work harder.

Or you will shatter their confidence to even lower levels making it harder for them to make the correct calls and back themselves.

It is an absolutely stupid idea which is why it doesn't happen in any reputable sport world wide.
