that was the best attacking display (not just point wise) that ive seen from us all season. in additon to scoring 30 points......we looked dangerous in the 2nd half, and our attack was well constructed with terrific flow. play like that every game and we'll put 30+ on more often.

well done lads

hahaha, well yeah I was happy it wasnt 40 nill at halftime myself. 28 nill was a good result for 40 mins lol. tell your uncle to brace himself for a rough ride for at least a month. At this stage I am just hoping to avoid the spoon.

My brother is a sharks fan. I told him today Ill be buying a sharks jersey for the finals this year. I predicted the sharks for a top 4 finish this year. After todays game against the Titans, I could be correct.

Round 12

Cronulla Sharks - 30 defeated Gold Coast Titans - 14

Cronulla have produced one of their better second half performances of the year to upstage the competition leaders the Titans at Toyota Stadium.

The Sharks beefed up commitment after the Titans were the first to score in the second half and took a 14 - 6 lead. On the back of some Brett Seymour and Brett Kimmorley backline plays Luke Covell scored in the corner to revive the home sides chances, and from there on in the Sharks dominated the remaining of the game which pleased Ricky Stuart who had been waiting to see the same commitment and drive on the field as he sees off the field. The next two tries came off the back of Kimmorley kicks. The first when BK kicked through and ricocheted off a Titan for Ben Pomeroy to cross for his second try in the 50th minute, then a daft little in-goal grubber for Greg Bird to score next to the posts in the 56th minute to push the score to 24 - 14 for the Sharks.

Mitch Brown turned his performance around this week with a very much improved game at one of his stongest positions in fullback. Mitch made 3 kick returns at an average of 14.5 metres per run and a total of 144 metres for the game. David Simmons saved the day in the 39th minute with an intercept that if not taken would have most certainely put the Titans over the line. Simmo although did leave the field with what looked to be a dislocated shoulder.

Paul Gallen pushed his claims to retain his spot for Origin 2 with a man of the match performance with 29 tackles, 4 offloads and 159 metres gained.

Guys I agree, And I esspecially liked how the sharks where running straight to the line then creating sidways movement with the ball. It worked for them well today. I think in the modern game that is the best stratergy especially close to the line.

Cheers to all you guys who have welcomed me to your site. I do appreciate it. Even though I come here in peace, by all means I welcome friendly bantering. I am more than happy for you guys to stir me up when my dogs get flogged. LOL. I have very thick skin.

Most of all I just here to keep upto date with the sharks, and to discuss rugby league in general.

Prince suffers form slump
June 01, 2008

GOLD Coast playmaker Scott Prince may have played himself out of a Queensland Origin jumper after producing his worst performance of the year on the eve of game two selection.

Renowned for his precision timing, Prince put in a shocker as the Titans continued their road woes with a 30-14 loss to Cronulla at Toyota Stadium to leave his Origin II hopes up in the air.

His poor game just added to the headaches for Maroons selectors, who thought all their Christmas's had come at once when skipper Darren Lockyer made an earlier than expected return from a knee injury to star for Brisbane on Friday night.

But with possible suspensions hanging over the head of Broncos centre Justin Hodges and backrower Sam Thaiday, the Queensland hierarchy have a nervous wait to learn who's available for selection.

Hodges' brain explosion - when he lifted Parramatta hooker Mark Riddell and tipped him onto is head on Friday night - will almost certainly rule him out of Origin II, while Prince's lacklustre display may cost him what would have been a likely bench spot.
Prince denied the pressure of Origin selection had played on his mind.

“I was pretty dirty with the way I played,'' he said.

“I just thought my commitment to the game wasn't there, it probably showed.

“They've been talking that (his Origin chances) up all the last three weeks. That wasn't an issue, it was just the way I played, I was just disappointed.''

Titans teammate and possible NSW prop Luke Bailey called on selectors to look beyond the one poor performance and instead focus on the scintillating form that saw Prince hold the mantle as the game's best player over the opening three months of the competition.

“His form deserves selection, he can't do much behind a team that's getting dominated,'' Bailey said of Prince's poor performance against the Sharks.

“He should get selected on the previous ten weeks and the 52 weeks before that.''

“Everyone's down in the dumps and we all know we should have won - they were there to be beaten.''

NSW selectors have their own issues with Mark Gasnier in extreme doubt with a hamstring injury and winger Jarryd Hayne facing a charge from the match review committee following an incident eerily similar to that of Hodges' clanger.

While Gasnier claims he could be right to play in Brisbane on June 11, the list of contenders to replace him took a twist today with Cronulla centre Ben Pomeroy putting his hand up with a strong two-try display.

Jamie Lyon was thought to be the front-runner should Gasnier be ruled out, but there is a belief selectors may not be keen to go back to the Sea Eagles three-quarter after he failed to impress in last year's series.

Pomeroy, who has represented City the last two seasons, said he hadn't given a NSW jumper any thought.

“I've just been worried about playing well for the Sharks really, I've got to get a lot of things right here before you can play Origin,'' Pomeroy said.

“It's pretty hard, you've got to sort of hope for injuries.

“They're talking up Jamie Lyon and Joel Monaghan - I don't worry about it too much.''

Hodges, Thaiday, and Hayne, along with the two men sent off on the weekend - North Queensland's Luke O'Donnell and Manly's Adam Cuthbertson - should find out by midday Monday whether they have a case to answer at the judiciary.

Cronulla have finally found their attacking flair, defeating the Gold Coast Titans 30-14 in greasy conditions at Shark Park.

The win came on the back of an impressive second half comeback, where the home side scored 16 un-answered points.

Sharks coach Ricky Stuart said he was pleased with win, particularly after he described last week's showing against the Bulldogs as 'disgraceful.'

Sharks centre Ben Pomeroy crossed for a hat trick, while recalled winger Luke Covell starred with a personal tally of 18 points.

Lock Greg Bird continued his recent good form, troubling the Titans defence all afternoon.

The Gold Coast weren't help by referee Ben Cummins, who at one stage were on the wrong end of a 6-0 penalty count.

A shining light for the Titans, Scott Prince once again pressed his claims for Queensland Origin selection, however, the return of Darren Lockyer is likely to prove a stumbling block.

Either way, the result means his side continues their slide down the competition ladder.
