Thank god, and for once we dug deep and went on with it, first time in a long time, hopefully we can build on it.

Cronulla has blown Gold Coast away with three tries in nine minutes en route to an impressive 30-14 win at a gloomy Toyota Stadium.

The Sharks trailed 14-10 early in the second half before tries to Luke Covell (46th minute), Ben Pomeroy (50th) and Greg Bird (55th) turned the game on its head.

It was Cronulla's biggest win of the year and the Titans' fourth failure in five away games this season.

Since entering the competition in 2007, Gold Coast has won just four of 19 games on the road.

The Titans faded badly before just 8214 fans on a cold and damp afternoon at Shark Park.

All the early possession and field position favoured Cronulla and it was no surprise to see the home side first on the board despite running into a stiff southerly.

Hard-running centre Ben Pomeroy did it all himself, crashing through the first line of defence and crawling over the line after being cut down just short of the target.

Luke Covell, reinstated to the top side after missing the Monday night loss to the Bulldogs, slotted the sideline conversion for a 6-0 lead.

Covell pushed the Sharks further ahead with a 22nd minute penalty goal.

The Titans' first sustained period of attack at Cronulla's end was rewarded almost immediately.

Scott Prince, in his last chance to impress Queensland selectors prior to Origin II, served up an inside ball for Mark Minichiello, who galloped through a huge hole to score under the posts.

Price landed the easy conversion and the Sharks' lead was cut to 8-6.

Gold Coast hit the front for the first time six minute before the interval.

Prince threaded a grubber kick through a forest of Cronulla players close to the line and centre Luke O'Dwyer grounded the ball with his torso for the Titans' second try.

The conversion went astray but the visitors led 10-8.

Cronulla started the second half poorly, surrendering possession at the play-the-ball and conceding a try from the ensuing set of six just two minutes after the resumption.

A lovely catch and pass from Luke Swain to Preston Campbell set-up a try to Brett Delaney in the corner and a 14-10 lead.

The Sharks got themselves back in the game with a try just four minutes later, Covell squeezing over in the corner after a wonderful backline movement.

The Cronulla faithful was on its feet again 50 minutes in when Pomeroy scored his second to put the hosts back in front.

Brett Kimmorley's grubber kick on half-way ricocheted off a Gold Coast player for Kimmorley to toe it ahead, regain and send the ball wide to Greg Bird.

Bird handed the ball on to Pomeroy, who beat Prince's tackle and carried two players over the line.

It was another Kimmorley grubber five minutes later which landed the Sharks their fourth try

The ball eluded a handful of players before finding its way into the in-goal where Bird trapped it soccer-style before planting his hand on the ball.

Covell's conversion made it 24-14.

The reliable winger sealed victory when he hit the deck and rolled over the line for his second try 10 minutes from time.

Despite a very brave streaker ignoring the chilly condition to run on the field after the try, Covell held his concentration to nail the sideline conversion.

Cronulla 30
Tries: Pomeroy (2), Covell (2), Bird
Goals: Covell 5

Gold Coast 14
Tries: Minichiello, O'Dwyer, Delaney
Goals: Prince

Sportal Player of the Year

Sharks bite too hard for Titans 30-14

Cronulla turned on the skill and the desperation to continue Gold Coast's misery on the road with a 30-14 NRL win at Toyota Stadium.

The Sharks staged a tremendous second half comeback to consolidate their spot in the top eight, the Titans stranded on just three wins outside the holiday strip since coming into the competition last year.

Down 14-8 following a Titans' try two minutes after halftime, the Sharks suddenly found their groove to blow the visitors off the park with three tries in the space of nine minutes.

Showing a desire to spread the ball not evident too many times this year, the Sharks probed the Titans' defence with Luke Covell opening the blitz on the end of a swift backline movement.

The next two tries came on the back of Brett Kimmorley kicks that ricocheted off the legs of Titans; Ben Pomeroy grabbing his second of the afternoon before Greg Bird made it 24-14 just short of the hour.

A desperate Gold Coast started chancing their arm and, when a Preston Campbell 40-20 attempt sailed over the sideline, their heads dropped.

Luke Covell completed his double and an 18-point haul moments later to confirm the result.

Despite running into a strong southerly buster, it was all the Sharks early with coach Ricky Stuart's stinging criticism following last week's loss to the Bulldogs still ringing in the players' ears.

Despite having the No.13 on his back, Greg Bird looked every bit the NSW five-eighth as he put Pomeroy through a tight hole for a 6-0 lead after seven minutes.

The Titans couldn't get out of their half, the speed of the Sharks defensive line and a 6-0 penalty count conspiring against the visitors who at one stage resorted to cross field kicks from Scott Prince and Ben Jeffrey in a bid to zigzag their way upfield.

The visitors copped a break when Kimmorley was penalised as he and opposite number Prince battled for the ball like two terriers after a bone and over the next six minutes Prince showed exactly why Queensland selectors need to find a place for him in their 17 for Origin II.

Isaac De Gois and Luke Douglas were left looking at each other as Price drifted across field before sending an inside ball for Mark Minichiello to run over unchallenged and it was 10-8 when the in-form playmaker grubbered for Luke O'Dwyer to score.

David Simmons saved his side from going further behind when he intercepted a pass from Nathan Friend which would have put Campbell over under the posts and he then had claims for a penalty try when pulled out of the play by Jeffrey as he chased a rolling ball into the in goal just before halftime.

The Gold Coast Titans were leading Cronulla 10-8 at half-time in their NRL encounter at Shark Park this afternoon.

The Titans claimed the advantage thanks to tries from Mark Minichiello and Luke O'Dwyer, with Scott Prince adding one conversion.

The Sharks' points came courtesy of a Ben Pomeroy try and a conversion and a penalty goal to Luke Covell.

Both sides are coming off losses from last weekend.

Can't wait to see Kearney and Brown on the field together for multiple weeks.

Don't think we have seen that yet.

How freaking good was that hey?????Covell and pommers definitely had there best games of the season! All the boys were on song today except for that try to mini.Pommers was man of the match for me altho everyone was great.Nutley played well but i still have a heart attack every time he plays the ball and it showed early in the second half, the missus almost had to take me to hospital when he dropped the ball! That second half was definitley the best we have played all season and if we can keep that up we will go a long way towards the semis.Great to see covell back in form, that will boost him for the rest of the season i reckon.goo d win boys!Let's keep it going!!!!YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

top game

well done guys,

I was happy to see the sharks get up.
I thought they has a few bad patches, but generally dominated all over the park.

I was happy with the bulldogs game, cough cough. TBH 46 nill was a good result considering. I honestly thought the Storm would put well over 50 on us.

Looks as though the dogs are going to cop a few more heavy losses in the weeks to come.

I will be cheering hard for the sharks for the next few weeks and just hopeing for anything other than a crickrt score for the dogs till we get our players fit and well again.

Once again guys congrats on a well deserved victory.:cheers
