Four-star tourist hotel part of fourth-stage of Woolooware Bay Town Centre development
By Jim Gainsford May 18, 2015, 9:48 p.m.
A 125-room, four-star tourist hotel is part of proposed amendments to stage four of the Sharks and Bluestone Property Solutions Woolooware Bay Town Centre development.
Bluestone, the development company working with Cronulla Sharks, outlined the proposed amendments at a meeting of Sutherland Shire Council’s development assessment committee on Monday night.
Bluestone announced plans for stage four of the development late last year which would add an extra 200 apartments over three buildings; a hotel, conference centre and community facilities.
After community consultation, Bluestone is reducing the level of the north-east tower by 12-metres, or three storeys, and the floor-area by the equivalent of 25 apartments.
It is increasing the tourist aspect by two-storeys and from 75 to 125 rooms.
The number of adaptable apartments will be increased from 20 per cent to 30 per cent to cater for residents needing assisted accommodation.
The hotel is expected to create 50 local jobs. Hotel suites will be short-stay and will have views either into Remondis Stadium or over Woolooware Golf Course.
There will be a 600 square-metre conference and function centre owned and operated by Sharks.
This is expected to create another 20 jobs.
There will also be a sporting centre of excellence and 500sqm of community space.
The amended plans will be submitted to the Department of Planning for a public exhibiton period of four weeks.
Final determination will be by the Planning and Assessment Commission.
The process is expected to take six to 12 months.
