I walk through there every Sharks game and cars are already parking there.
Tell the council they will give them 10c from every car parked.

There's a huge oval, 2 or 3 fields that could be used,
prob same as what we had where the development is maybe a bit more.

Is that the same field that was recently done up for the junior teams ?

That parking on the development site was amazing, shame it had to go but for a greater good that's for sure.

How many cars could they fit on the ovals? $10 a pop could work out quite a bit of money for a public school.

Definitely more parking than what we had but they are managed by council, apparently. I think the opposition was part of the Council's plan to undermine the development application by taking away a parking option and using a lack of parking as an objection.

Now the development is approved, it may well be back on the table again.

There is no reason the grounds couldn't be used for parking and still as playing field. Cronulla Caringbah manged to do it for decades with our training grounds and they were the best quality fields in the Sutherland Shire.

probably not enough to cover what they make from the soccer clubs who pay to play on decent fields during the same time

I played on those fields this year and I reckon they were certainly decent enough to the extent that Lilli Pilli would kick up a stink if the council let the Sharks have people park there.
But am I missing something?
Does the development cater for parking? I don't just mean for the shopping centre but for footy fans on game day?

If not, someone hasn't thought things through properly. I don't mind parking where I have to now for the next year or two if it means I can park in the shopping centre included in my season ticket.
But I won't be a happy chappy if I have to park in the street or nearby when the development is fully complete.

How many cars can you fit on the fields ? Lets say 500 and at $10 a pop, that's $5k per game to be divided up among the relevant parties.

I'm sure I'm well under in my estimate in the number of cars that can fit but I haven't seen the fields so can't judge.

Point is, it's a bit of money to be made to the relevant clubs or schools. A bit of field damage might be overlooked.

As I said, there is no reason the fields would be affected by game day parking 12 days a year, it's very easily managed as proved by Cronulla Caringbah holding junior rugby league on the old training grounds for decades.

As for Lilli Pilli, they don't own the grounds. If the Council approve the plan for parking, its bad luck. But as I said, its only 12 days a year and a percentage of those are going to be Thursday, Friday or Saturday night games. It's impact would be very minimal.

There will be parking in the shopping centre carpark for game day but I don't think there will be as much as what there was before. Obviously, you will have to pay for parking.

In the event the fields were waterlogged, they would be closed to car parking. This is the practice adopted on the old training fields. Didn't happen too much.

How about as an option when you become a member you can get one of those seat cushions with the logo all over it ? I saw a Miami Dolphins one and it got me thinking.

They're big in the NFL I know that, though you do spend about 5 hours on your rear end at those games so they're probably need more.
