Gday ladies and gents,

sorry I haven't had the chance to jump on much of late, due to work and family commitments.

As most are aware, I volunteer as part of the Shark Crew and help run the Shark Tank, on behalf of the club.

The Shark Tank will be running again and we will be having a meeting with a parties, including schools and junior leagues.

We will be looking on improving from 2015 and set ourselves up for years to come.

The Shark Tank still be located in front of Monty Porter Stand and will be more of permanent area.

Shark Tank will only be at home games and bringing back the atmosphere we all used to love.

A few issues we had, are as follows:

1. Drums - I'm not fully sold on them, however some people are.
2. Chants/ Voice - What we have/ what we can use
3. Fans - attracting people to it

A few ideas that we are looking at, are:

- Having a BBQ (Maloneys BBQ ) at each home game near the shark tank, however the bbq will be run by the Junior Clubs and all profits go to them.

- Having A Shark Tank Ticket (add of a a few dollars) but the ticket includes entry to Shark Tank Area and Merch (such as Flag/ sticker). IT is similar to the Hot Seat Idea.

If you guys have more ideas, throw them on here and/or message me via this or twitter.

Cheers

Matt

Not sure about the bbq area I've got 2 kids that play in the local rugby league comp.
and it's hard enough trying to get volunteers to go around
Collecting "doubles" tickets and trying to get parents standing around a bbq while the games are on.

Yes, and the BBQ idea is a good one. If a junior club can't get their bludging committee members to participate in such an obvious benefit, then there is our Shire's problem in a nutshell.

Each home game a selected club cooks the barby on the family hill. Its really not difficult, but volunteers r hard to find u are right

Totally Disagree. Many parents / volunteers spend so much time at their local clubs from
setting up the fields, to canteen duties/ bbq.
including most teams train 2 nights a week
From the under 6s to 14s on a Saturday and backing up for the seniors on a Sunday.

Just don't call it Maloneys BBQ please yes it was funny but for it to be linked to junior clubs and for us to be linked to footy show dribble.

Instead of the Shark Tank, how about calling it the Wank Tank - if they're gonna go with the Maloney BBQ thing.

As someone who has run more fundraising BBQs than I think anyone would care to know, I give you this...

People staffing the BBQs will be the same old people that staff community events all the time. To get them they will need to see direct and tangible purpose - It would be hard to argue anything less than 100% profits to be run back to the junior Clubs. It would have to be run very similarly to how Bunnings runs their co-partnerships spaces for BBQs. The Club needs to write this off as a loss and not see it as anything else otherwise. That being said - huge public liability being entrusted - strict guidelines for operators would need to be set and policed. 500 people with food poisoning could be a disaster. Particularly so if run as a commercial operation. Keep in mind also that working a BBQ has to be done in shifts - you simply cannot work a BBQ for for 3 hours straight. This has an on cost in so many ways. I love the feel good community idea of this but I can see the logistics being a complete nightmare. Also, licensed food suppliers would be rightly very annoyed with having none licensed people servicing the market.

"Maloney's BBQ?" ... Dumb as a bag of hammers - let that one go and give whoever suggested it a massive uppercut. More stupid than any suggestion I've ever heard.

I have to admit, I have no idea what the humour or the reference to a Maloney BBQ means. I've seen it several times in other threads but I'm still none the wiser.

Think back to what you used to do alone in your bedroom as a 15 year old.

I was reading encyclopaedias when I was 15 in an effort to avoid studying when I was 15. But don't worry, Born & Bred has enlightened me nicely via a PM.

And yes, I did write poetry back then as well.
