And nor should we. As if any business would agree to that.

According to Sharkcast the $5m is $1m p.a. over 5 years with no strings attached. Still an amazing donation.

I thought Sam and Josh could have been a bit more grateful about it.
Amazing donation..

but it’s not going to drastically change things over 5 years and I’m sure like a lot of fans there was some hope he’d be our white knight etc etc.

Won't it though? We acquired kareela for 4.6m and it made almost 1m last year. I'm sure the cronulla st property will begin turning over some decent rent too.

Adding another asset or two to this portfolio, putting the club in a net positive position is huge for me. This may alone not be the drastic change, but in combination with the moves over the last few years I see the club in a drastically different position to where we were.

Yeah that's all true.

Beats me how anyone can't be very happy with a free $5m, it's an extremely generous donation.

It’ll absolutely make a difference and is great we’re getting it.

There's a chance fans got a head of themselves... but if we announced a new 5 year, $5 mill sponsorship everyone would be doing cartwheels.

Lump sum would have been nice.

I guess the initial reaction was “great, we can finish off the leagues club” with a lump sum (or at least contribute a good sum towards it) but agree 100% that $5m even over 5 years is still an amazing and generous contribution and we should be thankful as it also ”comes with no strings attached” (I believe).

There was also a comment on Sharkcast along the lines of 'where were they 10 years ago' or something like that.

Well, maybe they didn't have confidence that their donation would have been used wisely with previous administrations? I don't know but just be thankful.

Lol less I say here the better but the lack of appreciation doesn't surprise me. Could give some people absolutely everything it still wouldn't be enough

There was a line in the original info sharks put out that to me indicates they invested now because we were strong and worthy of investment.
They’ve built a fortune doing business that way.

Hopefully if there was no other out in dark times they may have swooped in. Definitely times it could have been more useful. But if that’s not how they business fair enough. We fought out of that hole and they are helping now.

Listening now, it was clearly tongue in cheek between being stoked that we got anything. Also made note of how they were keen to get involved with the new administration.

I didn't take it as not being grateful at all.

Yeah OK, didn't come across as tongue in cheek to me, I didn't think they showed that much excitement about it tbh.
