A day game at Port MacQuarie .
Local team is called the Sharks and plays in our uniform .
Big home town advantage

Panthers have (or used to) a club in Port Mac and did pour a bit of money into local league for a long time. Might still. Dunno if thst would be a speed bump

Ballina used to be the Sharks and wear Cronulla colours. Think they may be the Seagulls now.

Wonder how apartment sales are going after this Opal/Mascot Towers rubbish?

There'll be plenty more to follow unfortunately. I know of a few dodgy developer ****s who change their business name after each build.

A usually very savvy mate bought a beautiful new apartment off the plans about 6-7 maybe years ago. I remember saying not to get too comfy and be ready to dump it quick after its all built cause they all wind up junkie flats in Canberra and there was plans to build a ****load more. He didn't, probably 3 more 10+ level newer, shinier complexes have gone up and he sold it last year for a considerable loss.

Last yearly checkup with the financial adviser I mentioned property and the first thing he said was absolutely don't touch apartments.

That's obviously the Canberra market. I have no idea about elsewhere but with Opal and Mascot confidence in apartment living would be low. Certainly ownership, but if demand plummets it'll be good for low budget renters. That's when they turn into junkie flats.

Sounds counterintuitive, but if I was buying a unit I'd be looking at blocks older than 30-40 years. Chances are they're structurally sound and cheaper than newer blocks.

Nah I read a thing today where some informed **** recommended to anyone who'd listen not to buy a new apartment in a complex anything over 3 levels.

Still land is go if you got money to spend. Even if its "out nowhere" now it'll be middle somewhere soon.

Yeah you're talking about a few high profile cases against a whole country of apartments. There's **** loads of dodgy houses too, particularly in Melbourne where they were build on reactive soil and are suffering slab heave a couple of years after construction. It sucks but it can happen.

What's crazy is how we pay through the roof in this country for cheap materials and inferior craftsmanship (in general) even when it goes right!

Which Makes for a good selling point.
If you want to buy an apartment, don’t risk it, go with a proven track record builder even if in the short term it might cost a bit more.
Quality over price will save you coin in the long term most times.

Not questioning the builders, more commenting on how there would be close to zero confidence to buyers looking at multi-storey apartments.

That's gotta be seriously hurting sales

People gotta live somewhere. Developers can always put it under their super and rent it out
