Really grinds my gears how pretty much every team gets government funding for COEs etc yet we get nothing.

I appreciate the complexities because we own our home ground, but are you telling me that all the other clubs getting money means they're opening up their facilities to others. I highly doubt that.

I dont know what the solution is but we need to look to move our training facilities to a public field/area so we can get some much needed funds for our training facilities.

safe liberal area. bald simon red is narrowing the gap on bald simon blue tho. maybe 2 more cycles there could be some money coming?

mostly they all have some form of mixed community use aspect, they are small but they get them over the line

Parras Kellyville joint does. you can hire community meeting space etc
Souths heffron park has community use you can go down there and there's a public gym and courts to play on etc (not that id wanna go there seems haunted with all the injuries, probably get struck by lightning playing basketball)
Dogs new joint will
Panthers they built themselves as they can do as they wish. good for them.
dragons new one is linked in with the uni of wollongong.

i would look to move to a centre of excellence at loftus or taren point road and then build the womens rooms in where our current HPU is.

You’re hired.

When can you start?

When i was a kid i remember the Sharks used to do a lot of training and recovery around the Sutherland aquatic centre area. This would also make sense.

We dont have to have it all at the ground. Afterall we have nowhere for it now anyway

If you're the government no way you'd spend big cash on a COE unless it benefits more than just an NRL team, and nor should they.
Yep the one in newy serves all sorts of sporting teams and events. I used to deal with the mechanic services there. Knights have their own area but i think they may have a tenancy on it as well

You'd think it wouldn't be too hard to build a business case for a COE that the community can use?

Also a question of where to put it? Knock down the Monty Porter Stand and build it under a new Monty Porter stand?

Or put it at the High School where the Junior facilities are and the team use from time to time in the pre season. Can leverage the community aspect more easily given it's owned by the Sharks.

Not a bad idea. I think the politics of that whole arrangement might make it tough though.

At one stage they were looking at trying to put it in the old Toyota site, but that never eventuated obviously.

they are setting up a footy academy at endeavour, as well as the current high school space
the tafe would be the best place for all this IMO
Does that mean space will become limited? I reckon having it there would be amazing. Helps younger players develop, it's not too far from our ground and it would be pretty cool for NRL players to be mingling with high school players.

Yeah I recall Dino mentioning the Endeavour bit on his podcast interview with the ET stand guys. He did mention difficulties in finding green space in the Shire. I think the US benefactor's money is going towards this but could be wrong ?

What are they doing at the current high school space ?

alot of of the ball work training is done there on the two fields. as is the pre season stuff
Cronulla Caringbah had their clubhouse rebuilt there as part of development

theres a real lack of space hey, a quick google map search shows as much. thats why i think loftus is the way forward.

It's good they are planning some of this stuff out. No doubt alot of their energy is on the leagues club at the moment but once that's over the hurdle it'd be good to understand the clubs long term strategy around training and stadium facilities.
