Latest I've heard is that Sharks hope to kick off construction in April.

That could work if they lock down a build in next couple of weeks.

Still need a lot to go there way though for this to happen.
That sounds good. I’m sure the club will want something firm to announce at the AGM end of March.

Is it maybe worth the club selling the ground to the nrl? It’s likely the only way it’ll ever get the proper upgrades required? Or once the league club is up and running, will that be able to fund the upgrades?

The only way it would be worth it to the NRL is if they sold it for development or charged us exorbitant rent. So neither really good for us.

My guess is the leagues club could generate a few million profit a year, considering Kareela had $800K profit. Enough to keep us in the black and do some small upgrades, but not rivers of gold. But I have no inside knowledge on the financials.

Thanks for sharing mate. Living in Melbourne I know bugger all about this stuff. Not much is posted either.

Did the leagues club end up getting approval for pokies do you know? That’s where the money is.

All good! I think the Woolooware leagues club will still have all its original pokie licenses. I haven’t heard anything different.

Hopefully we will know more about everything after the AGM in a couple of weeks

Fingers crossed. Only way we’ll get ahead is with the pokies. Club won’t survive just serving drinks and making food.

I had a look and Kareela seems to currently have 65 gaming machines (original deal was 80 gaming machine entitlements). Before we closed in 2018, Woolooware had 166 gaming machine entitlements. But we may have sold or transferred some of those.

I dont think we would have sold any. Pokie licenses are gold.

They may have transferred some to Kareela but rest assured, by the time the club is finished, the pokies will be back in action.

Though it's been so long, the old pull handle machines might need a upgrade!

I wonder if we temporarily loaned our gaming machine entitlements to another club? Probably would not have predicted it'd be for 6+ years.
