There hasn't been much talk of us for ages really, didn't help last week.
Last week was all about us. Playing a home final, Hynes was going step up, finishing second, everyone was tipping us and expecting us to win blah blah.

This week we are quietly going about our work. I hope fitzy uses that game as motivation.

You got a pretty handy back line when Taffe & Paulo are on the reserves list

Tracey marking up on Milne has me a bit worried although when isn't Connor marking up on a bigger player. Tracey needs to move on from last week quick and sort things out on that edge (part of that is on Ramien too)

Burgess is a liability - for all his metres and big hits we won't have the benefit of a couple extra penalties and dropped balls coming our way now and less chance of facing a 12 man bunnies side

The forward battles are going to be juicey as but I expect some fireworks in the backlines as well

I hope Tass has a Morgan Harper up against Talakai, he already got a bit of a similar look with that NRL mug shot and porno facial hair

The only thing that worries me a bit from their bench is Havilli who will be working our ruck over, making half breaks and offloading to charging monster South Forwards. Our ruck defense has to step up from last week and I think it will. Brailey can't do it all in D (Rudolf & Fifs have been good but limited on minutes), this is what we need from Dale (sans Tolman) and if there are any break aways Kennedy needs to show he is for real

Put their halves under pressure, take away their time and space which I don't think they will react to well more often than not. Our forwards to hold their own and we should win, hopefully before the 80 mins because another tight extra time game will be the end of us even if we end up winning.

We are a fit team but we arn't robots. Souths can score very quick through their backline so the game wont be over regardless of any lead we have.

We can score quick too which is nice if we are chasing points but we need to shut down a game and play less frantic if we have the lead with 5-10 mins left. That might be boring and go against our positive attacking systems and attitude but it's usually effective.

Maybe our boys keep attacking cause some weeks they don't have as much confidence or energy with our defense as we might think. Wade and Dale needed to step up and show some more leadership in those last 10 mins against Cows, no penalties or errors boys, keep it simple and safe ect.

If that was a message they put out they certainty didn't set a good example and it didn't get through the heads of alot of our other players either.
Confident we will play smarter this week if we are in a similar situation.

NRL would love the Panthers Souths matchup though for either of them playing to get to another GF

It's in our hands though, win this and anything is possible on the day against the Panthers (The 1967 showdown)
The last team to make 3 consecutive grand finals was the Storm back in their late 2000's rorting era and before that it was the Roosters

You'll be relieved to hear both Tracey and Milne play on right wings so they won't mark up.
Ronnie will mark Milne and Tracey who doesn't like staying on his wing will mark AJ who is the best in the game at staying wide.
The good news is that Tass is not a massive threat so Tracey should have confidence in Ramien handling him and so he might like to mark the prolific try scorer opposite him.

Agree our ruck defence needs to be switched on. They will look at how Dearden carved through and look to use Murray, Havilli and spine through there

Even worse against AJ - it's funny I always remember Johnston scoring all his mountain of trys on the left 🤪 but FMD are we the only team that still name players in their correct numbers / positions and actually play them there on the day?

The team list has AJ named @ 2 (right wing) & Milne @ 5 (left wing)

Gards was gunna say time for a lay down but you've spotted your own error and corrected from calling AJ and Milne their centres

They are named left left right right 2,3,4,5 we are the opposite right right left left but I think you'll even find mixes where the 2 and 3 are not paired together. The numbers aren't reliable at all.

I'm hung over and that's what the edit button is for, at least I proof read my posts

My point stands - I don't think it's hard for them to be named in their correct position. Imagine a punter that doesn't follow the teams that close working out match ups between players.

The NRL team list has Tracey marking up on Milne. Tracey & Johnston have both been wearing jerseys with the 2 on the back of it which should mean opposite sides of the field.

I get that on the day the coach can move players around at his discretion but we are talking about players that run out of the same side of the field pretty much every game

You are right they are not reliable - even looking back at Sharks team lists from the JMO days the backline numbers all over the place in terms of side of the field and pairings they actually trotted out as and we aren't the only team

Is it worth having Ronnie switch sides to defend AJ? Worked when we played against Addo-Carr.

Also while I agree Burgess has been average for a while, he brought the Rabbitohs back into the game when he came off the bench last week. They were getting bullied and he was the only one who stood up to the Roosters forwards. Copped a sin bin for it but he managed to fire his teammates up and knock Tedesco out of the game.

Glad he's not playing against us this week.

What? The numbers worn by centres and wingers have nothing to do with which side they play. Ditto for second rowers. The only time that has ever been the case any time in Rugby League is on a computer game.

Bunnies Left side = AJ - Tass - Walker - Arrow
(sometimes Arrow gets a rest for 15-20)

Bunnies Right side = Kaloamatangi - Ilias - Graham - Milne

souths backline sucks and their forward pack is limited now burgess is injured

tatola isnt known for big minutes, limit him and target him, dont let him get on the front foot and we go a long way to winning this

walker, mitchell and cook, take their time and space and we win this no troubles before going on to shock penrith

When we win just wait for the “it was all because the roosters smashed them” talk.
Iv backed us at 13+ with a massive win.
Way to much talk from Trell and Walker who don’t have a good record of backing their talk up in consecutive weeks.

Tatola regularly plays over 50 minutes. If they play him for 50-60 he'll be fine, but yeah - wear him down so you get to play against the benchies for longer.

I think they'll bring Chee-Kam on at left edge after a while, and Arrow will move to the middle.

Not sure I'd say a backline with a guy who has scored 30 tries in back to back years one that sucks. I reckon we can exploit weaknesses but you can never count out a backline with Alex Johnston on the end of it.

Latrell and Cody are why AJ scores tries.
