In sport from time to time you see a player choke under pressure....our whole ****ing team chocked. it was like watching a drive by shooting in slow motion over and over again.

Over all a good year though. I mean, at least we made the finals. Finishing 6th was about right with our squad.

Watching it at the ground with the kids there were honestly about 5 times where we could cheer for something to happen. I was expecting him to ditch us for the cowboys by the end of the game but to his credit he stuck it through with more enthusiasium than I could muster. I spose if hes going to be a sharks fan he better get used to crushing dissapointments.

Sad way to finish what was a promising year. Lack of quality halfback and a sad kicking game ultimately cost us. Hoping that Maloney and Townsend will provide vast improvement. After first 4 games of the season I'm actually happy to get where we did. I hate Storm but don't want Cowboys to win either.

We had a better season than anyone probably could have expected apart from our mistakes and poor kicking they smashed us up the middle with their big men we just could not hold them.

Still a great season with hopes of going better next year with Maloney and Townsend and hopefully a big aggressive forward.

Congrats to all for 2015 season

From the Sydney morning Herald...

Cronulla Sharks must make sure they aren't a feel-good story that fades away

Wait for a maiden title continues for long suffering Cronulla fans but North Queensland will dare to dream after staggering 39-0 semi-final win.

For the Cronulla Sharks, the question of "where to from here?" will be answered in two parts. The first was simple and immediate: back to the hotel in Townsville for some cold beers after a very, very rough night at the office.

They would have tasted far better should they have been on the opposite end of the 39-0 scoreline, dished out to them without sentiment by the clinical North Queensland Cowboys on Saturday night. But dulling some of the pain would suffice for the moment.

The lingering question is what will the Sharks bring to the table next season. It ended in a spectacular flame-out but for supporters, still waiting for a premiership after 48 years, this was far better than spending the year wandering around with a wooden spoon.

Plenty gave them a hope against the Cowboys, who were coming off a loss to Brisbane played at a hot tempo. The Sharks thought they would go hard and go early and if they could withstand the assault, perhaps grind them slowly to the bone.

Paul Gallen called it 'front-ending' their energy and he was right. The problem was they not only front-ended their surge but added a middle and a glorious conclusion as well. It was relentless and for Cronulla, perhaps cruelly beneficial.

Coach Shane Flanagan said they must learn a great lesson from that defeat. It would be the greatest of wastes if they arrived at the same place next season and were blasted out of the sky in a similar style.

Of course, the great challenge is to get themselves within two games of the grand final once again. A great deal needs to go right for any side to get to this stage of the season, then get through the first round of the finals. To execute when it's all on the line is another level again.

After the match, Gallen was gracious in defeat yet felt it was his side that handed the win to North Queensland on account of their handling errors and mistakes under pressure.

It's true none of that helped. It's also true to say that those mistakes were forced upon them by a Cowboys side that was physically dominant. They won that contest very early in the night and in doing so, took away the key plank to Cronulla's game.

Matt Scott, the chief cannonball, said the Sharks had made a habit of "beating teams up" just like they did against Souths. Paul Green elected to meet them headlong in the middle of the park, rather than try to skirt around the edges.

It was a tactic used with stunning success. The Cowboys won the collisions, which turned into pressure, which they were good enough to convert into points. Once on the back foot, the Sharks didn't have the tools or structure to get them motoring once again.

The Sharks are a side built around a core of veterans like Gallen and Michael Ennis. If the Cowboys premiership window is narrow, then it is equally so for Cronulla, who have recruited well in the playmaking department next season with the addition of Chad Townsend and James Maloney.

Flanagan must find a way to make them all fit next season, as well as add serious layers to the Sharks game. Green had said he didn't care how it was going to be played on Saturday; grind, fast ruck, barge-fest ... he felt his team could adapt to them all.

That's the challenge that now faces Cronulla. We all know they can play big. Now they must learn to play smart.

I know a lot of people seem to be ok with the loss because the Cowboys were red hot but I really think that was a dog of an effort by our team. Being beaten like that by a team we have beaten twice this year is totally unacceptable.

A totally embarrassing performance.

I know everyone played bad but a good kicking game could have at least calmed the team and allowed us to at least get into the grind. I guess it's no surprise that our clear weakness cost us so badly.

Thank **** we won't have Robson next year... Oh wait we probably will. What a stupid signing. I've seen far better players dropped from our team for far, far less. It's just beyond comprehension. The weird thing is, so many Sharks supporters outside this forum actually rate him. Wtf.:take that

This gives me the ****s - cowgirls were nowhere near "red hot".

They played well and smart - I won't take that away from them, but we were absolutely terrible. Souths would've slaughtered us last week if we played like that.

Think about it.

I'm with you mate. I was in a prick of a mood last night and I'm not much better today. I was embarrassed with last night's display, from the coaching decisions to the individual playing performances. People say they'd rather lose like that rather than in golden point but I disagree, at least if we loss in golden point we have given it a red hot crack.

Losing 39 blot in a semi final is not acceptable and I'm absolutely deflated. I felt the same in 08. Those kind of performances knocks all the wind out of you and now I'm not even excited about next year

That loss stings

To me it was like a replay of that 3rd origin game this year. If you give a side that much ball, with a bloke like Thurston in the team to control it, then they are going to look much better than they actually are because they half to do like half the defense of usual. Even Hannant and Bolton looked like superstars out there.

But they still played really well; Scott had his best of the year to help put them on the front foot, everything Coote touched turned to gold. It was a tidal wave of **** for us to face, and we fell apart.

Agree 100% 2010, that exactly the way I'm feeling.

I don't mind a loss, if we're competitive.

But to lose by that margin is just so embarrassing.

I'm the opposite, lose by 1 or lose by 40 we're still knocked out. If we lost in golden point I'd be stewing for weeks but since we were flogged I've barely given it a thought all day.

Totally agree. A couple of my mates jokingly stirred me up about the big loss. I just said straight out the Cowboys were way too good and fully deserved the win. They haven't hassled me since. It's only a game after all, and sure I would have really really loved a win. As Evertonshark said, a 1 point loss leaves you a lot more gutted. I think I was over it within an hour.

Did anyone count how many 7 tackle restarts we gave them? It must have been a least 5 or 6. It felt like about 20.
