This is the type of stuff that I reckon seperates our fans from the rest of the league. It's just awesome. And it's great the telegraph gave it a mention. Shows that we as fans care about our club, and we're always going to stick by them no matter what. Once again great job to all involved.

Oh dear, BUZShedding a tear in front of a computer screen... Thanks Iron :borat.

I strongly urge all you Shark fans to set aside some time and go back to the start of this thread and read it all the way through. You too Coolum .

This thread epitomizes what is possible with concerted teamwork. It is also a prime example of how a negative can be turned in to a positive and is a template of how to get something done... From the seed of an idea, up until the realization, and then the accolades :good:

As for that guy who did the framing at mates rates... I'm sure there are a lot of people who would like to be able to locate him when they need something framed... fitz?

Just a few quick ones -

Thanks Fitzy for posting the photos and telegraph story. :borat

Thanks Murph for uploading the film. :)

Nice speech Iron. Short and Sweet but said everything it had to and more. :good:

Big congrats to all who put the effort into this whole project. :cheers

Lastly, lets maintain the feelgood factor. One thing I've learnt over my (almost) 40 years is that a club is nothing without its supporters and episodes like this convince me that frankly, we've got some of the best.
We've had to put up with some ****** in the last couple of years haven't we lads and lasses, but in spite of all that, the future is STILL bright.
It's F***in' blue, black and white....

Sharks till I die...

Thanks for the kind words mate and thanks for putting up the video. It will always be a great memory for me.:cheers

By the way, you are a good judge! I'm bang on 6'4" and weigh about 110 kg's. Unfortunately, I'm also 40 yrs old this year!:(

However, given the chance I'd love to pull on the jersey and take a couple of hits up's like the old days. Probably need to have medics ready at the sideline though! I tell you what though, I would die a happy man!

Guys I would just like to thank you all for doing this for Scott. This is a tremendous gesture and it really shows the NRL what Cronulla are all about. Fitz, Iron, Murphy and everyone who contributed has done a fantastic job. Keep up the hope for the Sharks, because we are still in it.

seriously, Big iron should get in the rooms with the boys before the derby this weekend for a motivational speech! It would be chills up and down the spine material!

Nice analogy between ANZAC Day and Scott's qualities Iron.

I'm proud to have been a small part of it.

Thanks everyone for all the kind words, it was certainly an honour for me to make this presentation to Scott.

Thanks again to Fitz and everyone who donated their hard-earned to make this happen.

For those who have asked me, here is a copy of the speech.

Once again, thanks to all involved, it will certainly be a night I will remember as one of the greats to be a Sharks fan!:cheers

hahahaha... don't forget your zimmer frame young fella!

There's a few of us "veterans" on here who'd love to go around the park one more time. Do you reckon Sutho Hospital has enough ambulances and beds though?

Trying to catch the ball in one hand on the concourse with my camera in the other on Saturday night was about as close as I'm getting to it nowadays!

Can I recommend the ARL Masters Games for over 35s. Find a team and get in on it. Best time up at Runaway Bay in March and a couple more weekends looking to start up around the place. Played with sportsmanship.

If you want, grab a pair of bright yellow shorts and the opposition will just grab you, not tackle.

I had a ball this year and already have plans for next year.

Is that at the Runaway Bay Seagulls club Sixgill? That's just a 100 yards from my mum and dad's place. :good:

One of my mates is in the NSW origin side for that. He said that there are a few madmen in his Club team that are late forties or older who don't wear either red or yellow shorts.

Email from Sharks Chairman, Damian Irvine

Here is a copy of an email sent to me by Sharks Chairman, Damian Irvine yesterday... I've been away on a mini-break so haven't had the chance to put it up here.

Although it was sent to me personally, it's a thank you to all of us.

I thought it very important that this sort of feedback be published here.

Thank you for many things, the daily care, thought, and support you personally, and the wonderful community you hold together and host, have provided our great club through the wonderful peaks and the heart breaking troughs over the years.

Not said enough perhaps but always noticed and most importantly, FELT by everyone at our club, Players, Staff, Members, and Directors.

The privilege to call myself a Sharks fan has always been something I've been very proud of, and now having the incredible honour and privilege as Chairman of the club we love, the clarity, strength and resolve that is needed daily is something I draw directly from you, your colleagues, mates and your entire community. You regularly display the pride, commitment and respect for the privilege that being a Cronulla Sutherland Sharks supporter brings.

Love, Passion, Fanaticism towards a team are traits that occur worldwide. Having the thought, the inclination, the accountability and care to ACT and DO things to make a difference are another thing entirely, and those efforts and sacrifices make the difference between Clubs, and GREAT clubs.

What you all did for a player who wears our jersey last night, what you did for all players, staff and members, left me a little lost for words. Speaking to you afterwards I wish I could have verbalized better my feelings, so forgive me saying this in email.

The wonderful speech mentioned traits that our club has that Scott Porter displayed in Round 1 of this year, yet ironically, in getting together, making your own personal sacrifice of time and money, purchasing his jersey, and presenting it with such grace and respect, you all reflected values and traits that have been our clubs foundation, have kept us going over the past months of hardship, and will lift our club colours to heights only limited by the our own dreams, ambition and expectations. Thought, Care, Accountability and the inclination to ACT to make a difference.

Regards and Thank you so much

Damian Irvine
Chairman
