Terrible news for Scott. Gee he must me a strong person to go ahead and play football in the immediate aftermath, and I thought he had a very solid game as well. Is there a way we at Sharks Forever can send our condolences to Scott and his family, and maybe arrange some flowers? I would be more than happy to contribute to this, as I am sure all of us would be.

I'm sure fitz could organise it?

Scott Porter is fast becoming my favourite Shark. It's not always about being NRL royalty. I just love his battling spirit.

Good idea!

I'm finding out whether the Porters would like flowers or a donation to a charity in lieu.

Will let people know as soon as possible.

One thing that I would love to be able to do is bid on Scott's jumper from the other night and give it back to him as a gift. I'm sure that jumper would hold more sentimental value to him than any other person on the planet.

Thoughts?

That is a genius idea Fitz. The current bid is $500 and the auction closes on Thursday night, so plenty of time for Sharks Forever members to get our donations in to secure this special gift to Scott and his family, and raise some money for the club in the process! :cheers

Did the players NOT wear two different jerseys during the game? I know with the Indigenous All Stars game players wore one jersey in the first half (which got auctioned off) and another jersey in the second half (which the players got to keep themselves). I should hope we were sensible enough to follow the same flight path ourselves.

Scott runs out in the second half with the 7 half ripped off his so I'm assuming they wore the one jersey for the whole game. Could be wrong... can you verify mate. I'm flat-out with work today.

Yeah cos Stapos number came off so he had to come out in the number 19 for the second half.

Edit: If the plan is for us to pool money together to ensure we get it so we can give it back to Porter then I would definitely put money in. Anyone want to organise?

That's the plan... I'll organise it... just having issues with massive amounts of work at the moment.

Perhaps what we do is ask for pledges from people here... and then we put in bids depending on how much we can get pledged. If we win the Auction then everybody who has pledged then deposits the money into the SF Paypal account.

All good?

I'll start the ball rolling with a pledge of $50

PS: El Loco. Can you make a call to DI and run the idea by him for me? Cheers!

I'm really povo at the moment so I'll have to run it by the CFO (wife) when I get home.

She likes Scotty Porter so I reckon I'll be able to chip something in.

All donations are good... I don't care about the method by which I receive them!

look guys this is a really great thing you've got going here. i'm a bit late so i dunno when the auction finishes but look, i'm really ****in pov at the moment and i know its not much but i could probably pledge in $10. i know its not much but its really all i can spare at the moment (just moved to syd, **** job, expensive rent etc)

i dare say you'd need the cash IF we win the auction yeh? just keep me up to date on here i'll check regularly.

really good thing you've come up with here
