I have always been impressed with him and even more so after the WCC and Rd 1. I have always been impressed with his workload, aggression and physique, and after tonight his speed. I am fairly certain this is his final year with the Storm and Id love for us to sign him. I think if we were to sign him now to a 3 year deal we would save a significant amount of money on him, due to the fact I think his market value will increase in the next 12-18 months and he will most certainly become a NZ international.
Just looking through our current squad we have Fraser Anderson coming off the bench to play in the backrow, he has the ability to become a solid if not an above average backrower, though Sam Tagataese would be a great addition to our squad. I think he will become more of a dynamic footballer than Fraser and would probably replace Fraser on the bench next season. I also think he would do well under Ricky due to the fact Ricky is so passionate that would just work so well with Sam's aggression and would be a great replacement for any of our forwards. I think him coming off the bench would just add that spark and aggression to add with Gallen and Bird in the latter stages of the half/game.
Sam stands at 192cm's and weighs 100kg, a perfect physique in the modern game of football, and to be honest you can always teach a kid to tackle and run the ball, get him fit and strong but you can't give a kid heart and ticker and thats what Sam has plenty of.
