"The Sharks were under the salary cap in 2016 from Round 1 through to the Grand Final. That includes any of the promises we've found. So there's no question on the 2016 Premiership".

I think the NRL just gives you money to cover the cap, you keep the change if you dont' use it all but you're meant to use 90% of it by June or something I recall ?

I would of thought too. A mate of mine has told me that the money is strictly for the cap, and can't be used elsewhere though, which i find strange then if true...

Journo: why didn't you strip 2016 premiership?
Greenberg: Sharks were under all of 2016
Journo: but didn't they gain at advantage leading up to it if they were over?
Greenberg: i understand what you're saying, but thats a determination we have made (asks dude next to him) do you want to add to that?
Dude next to him: Nup

Buzz is a sleeper agent for St George. **** that ****.

He may well be a sleeper agent .
But for the AFL .
Hasn't written a postive article about the NRL, or the players his whole career .
Just happens to specialise in Negative Sharks Articles

so barry self reporting helped us.... who knew

OK so Barry self reporting has saved us $500k and don't get me wrong, as a Sharks fan I am grateful for that, but I still believe that the NRL would never have found out about the discrepancy yet alone any other issues they have found due to confiscating our servers. The NRL have NEVER found a salary cap issue on their own yet to date take all credit for punishments handed down.

Imagine if someone whistleblew in the future though, we would've been reamed.
No one will ever know if that would've happened, the important thing is 2016 is set in stone now, that's with the NRL snooping round our info for a year. Onwards and upwards, looking forward to some footy now, finally.

Really there wasn't much Barry Russell could do once they hired the former salary cap auditor (Jamie L’Oste-Brown) and he found the discrepancy.

Barry Russell could have covered it up, and it would have leaked out anyway to the NRL, or he could self-report.

In the end he's been proved right I think.

No specifics on what we did? WTF

Board agreed to set up / use a company to help attract TPA's for players from 2013 onwards. The company was funded by a board director. There was $750k outside the cap promised to players but the majority wasn't actually paid.

Ok, cheers. "...but the majority wasn't actually paid" - how much was? To who? Who set it up?

This should be on nrl.com. This is why people are uninformed and talk ****. Some will say "too harsh" others "not harsh enough".

It's like Flanno's indefinite suspension; not finalised. You either ban the man for a period of time or not.

Gunna just go through this again.

**** YOU to the ****s that tried to cheat and hurt our brand and cost us **** loads of money and cap space.

THANK YOU to Barry Russell for having integrity and saving us $500,000

EDIT: And an additional **** YOU to the ****ty fans that back cheaters over the good guys. You hypocritical pieces of **** would not have had the same opinion when Melbourne did it. You all need to really evaluate your lives and your integrity because you come off sounding like dumb-arse dead**** ****faces.

EDIT2: Captal_Shark excluded
