Oh absolutely, he's shown that recently. He's great when in that kind of form but really he's only got himself to blame for not showing it consistently.

If there was a way to flick Toby and keep Royce I doubt anyone would be against it.
I'm a little burnt by Hunt. He and Talakai were the two guys I thought could be anything (okay, Brailey as well) but this 'play great when you need a contract' thing is my pet hate and got him taken off the list.

I wish him and the team that pays a premium for 6 months of great play out of a 3 year contract well.

Hunt has been far better than decent of recent times he has been an absolute weapon. A one man wrecking ball. He produced one of the best bench forward performances I have seen in an earlier game which won us the game. One or 2 strong charges can turn a game around and he gave us more than that.

Late bloomer but coming into his prime now.

I get that we have never really seen him at this level before and certainty not for extended periods of time but he has done a reasonably solid job over the years mixed in with some less impressive games ofcourse.

He is worth taking a punt on and keeping around at least another season and hope he can replicate this sort of good form because when he does the impact is huge, a game changer. I think that is worth taking a chance on for what I don't think will be massive coin. If he doesn't bring that sort of form again so be it I think it was worth a try.

Whoever we get in return or use funds to upgrade/extend is going to feel like a plodder in comparison. Surely we can find a way to make the cap work for us. At least keep him around for the rest of his original contract. He will still need to play well next season to attract his next contract outside of the Sharks or he is off to the ESL.

We don't have enough super aggressive players in our squad and AFB won't be able to do it all himself and if AFB gets injured we are back to square one.

We need good depth anyway with the run of injuries we have to Rudolf and BHU. I am not in the shouldn't have extended Rudolf and BHU camp either btw, it made sense at the time and they are starting to come good again.

Spot on mate.

People really blowing smoke up Hunts ass because of a handful of decent performances in a time when hes trying to land a deal….im not sold.

When hes on hes great but im also not going to lose sleep when he leaves. Its not a retention/recruitment to lose him as when he was signed (and those who were signed to contracts that go beyond his) he was not worthy of us falling over ourselves for. Noone else was knocking on his door
I heard a podcast a while back where he was interviewed and he said Eels wanted him for a mid season transfer the year they made the GF but we wouldn’t release him. He went on to play WC that year so I doubt nobody was knocking on his door.
Given the circumstances and forward depth, I believe they will grant him an early release like they did Tracey and Miller.

Miller was surplus, I had no issue at all letting him go. Connor, I was happy to let him go given we had Dykes coming back from injury.

With Royce, no chance we should be letting him go early unless we get something good in return.

I agree, but I think it’s likely we will.

I think it’s fair to say this is not an area of strength for fans

I’ve been told no other club would ever sign Chad. I’ve been told other clubs would snatch up Trindall years ago.

It may be we let him to to free the space for a Newtown upgrade into the 30. We're pretty thin depth wise in a few other areas

I think we need to set a standard. Sure Chad was let go and picked up by warriors, cowboys and now the roosters, but this just goes to show the the shortage of 7’s in the competition. I would put Chad on Brooks level, and brooks got kicked up also.

Just because a player is let go from the sharks and picked up elsewhere, doesn’t mean the sharks made a mistake.

From sharks POV, they moved players on due to identifying a weekness and then coming up with a succession plan that lead to Nicho being signed.

Put Trindall on the market and see if another club picks him up.

I think bort was moreso talking about the reliability of rumours than the decision making of the Sharks.

No, it doesn’t, it means the fans who said nobody would sign him made a mistake

This is the difference between clubs like the roosters/Storm etc.. They make the hard calls with their recruitment to continue trying to win the comp every year. Yes it ruffles a few feathers but they get **** done. As were we don't.
Some might think sharks made a mistake though, if not emulating roosters

I reckon Hunt hasn't been managed well, fitness wise, training wise, development wise at all.

Don't think he's had a fair go at all to be honest...
